I'm going to throw a manual cam-chain tensioner into the Bus next weekend , being as I have the thing apart .

Question : has anyone done anything creative with the oil feed line that fuels the gen III tensioner , or has everyone just plugged it ? Anyone used that line to feed another critical area ?

I was gonna go with APE , thats whats in stock at my local "money-sucker" , oops , I meant "friendly neighbourhood motorcycle shop". Any 1 dissapointed with their "APE" .

dis 'em , kiss 'em , or piss on 'em here....Ape tensioners.

Elvis say....Thank ya , thank ya vera much .

hav a good 1.....RSD

the only BIG problem with them is YOU need to know how to adjust it. Or find someone who does REGULARLY which means R&R valve cover. Trust me the stock one works the best

I have one on the '01 since the factory tensioner was messed up. So far so good. JC, are you sure you have to take of the valve cover to tighten it up? How often does that cam chain stretch anyway..?

what Mr. Cheese is prolly refering too Doc is the initial set up.
I'll have to take the lid off to measure the slack in the run between the cam shaft gears . That because you just cant go an' guess how tight it should be after pulling out the stock one . Too loose...VERY BAD . Too tight....also BAD .
But with a manual one installed you can virtually elimate chain noise . And you only have to adj it maybe once a year an' you can do that by just lifting yer fuel tank, nothing else .
Johnny and I are probably going to disagree on this one, but I personally think Suzuki adjusters are total crap.

kiddin' Doc....even if you are a doctor of proctology...

the OEM one is better by far
if it is set up correctly don't worry about
the ape one can bung up the slipper arm
I'm guessin' by "Slipper arm" you are refering to the part most commonly referred to as the Cam Chain Guide .

how does the Ape , or any other manual tensioner for that matter "mess with the "slipper arm"
