Best tires for street riding

I just changed to the PP 2CT in the rear from a Shinko 003, and it sticks really well. Running the PP in the front and have had no problems. Will update after a few more 1000 miles on the PP 2CT.

I've used abunch. I'm very happy with Metzlers( i've used several sets of each of these). I took the RoadTec's to Alaska. Good wear due to the solid ctr. strip. Good water removal but a little slick pulling out to pass in the rain and enough grip for most gen. riding i think. Metzler M1 +P is is my pick for general/playing riding. Real good grip and little deeper ctr. for a few xtra miles. M3 real fun tire but I had to go to the other end of the state and didn't have time to change rims, bad. They seem to chew up fast on highway, the ctr took h*ll in about 700miles. Not close to gone but I went ouch when I got home and looked at it. Dunlop Quilifers or PP 2ct's next not sure yet. Still Waiting to hear more on the 2ct's.

Ps I think you'll notice a big difference over the 56's with any of these tires. I didn't care for the oem's. The bike felt Much better after I burned them off.

With all the responses for the pilot powers I decided I would give them a try. Thanks for all the input!!

I just changed my stock rear tire after 6,000 miles. It was time. I replaced it with another Bridgestone like the stock tire. I ride freeways and commute to work. No problems.

(gwhunran @ Mar. 10 2007,21:31) +1 on the avon storms. I just had some put on last weekend. These were replacement for stockers, which I got 4500 miles out of. I mostly commute , but pretty much do so year round. I like them so far better than the stock tires and the deep tread should do better on wet roads which happens to us commuters from time to time.
Have put approx 200 miles on new Storms and agree they gotta be better than the OEM tire.

Take a look at the technical data on Avons website regarding tread compound on the Storm. Harder compound in the center when you are upright, and softer compound on the shoulders for better stick in the corners.

BTW, I've also had much better service with Avons vs Bridgestone and Metzeler on my chopper which also runs a 200/50/17 Z rated tire.
