best tires for street

(orpheus @ Sep. 03 2007,14:10) For mileage, Continental Road Attacks.  Got 10K out ot each rear and over 20K out of the front.  Great handling too.  Trying Michelin Pilot sport HPX's right now, but 2K later I'm not liking how fast they're wearing.

On my spare wheels I have PP 2CT's.  Unbelieveable grip, decent mileage so far.  Not great, but fair for the grip.
WOW!! that has got to be a record! You must be able to use all of the sides too

I wear em in the middle! Flat FL. best I've found 009 Ravens (Stinko's) I got chicken steaks left when replaced @ 6K rear and 12k front.

The sides are considerably thicker than the middle, but they get theirs too. I'll wear the center to the cord and the sides to about half. Damn two+ hours to the hills. The chicken strips stay at about 1/8", I tend to take few prisoners.

That is close. Im right off Hillsboro & 95...Well about 5mins west of 95 off of hillsboro to be exact.

(GMbusa @ Sep. 02 2007,22:59) I'm getting great mileage out of my Shinko Ultrasoft.
I'm amazed how well my shinko ultra soft is doing too !

But for the street I still like perellis

(Tango1300 @ Sep. 03 2007,14:32) I have the 2CT tire now.  I hate it in the rain... just refuse to be caught riding the bike when it gets wet because the tread design actually channels the water to the center of the tire making it hydroplane!!  STOOPID!!

The Metzler M3 is the best tire I have ever used on my Busa.  I went with the 180/55 and never looked back.  Anyone who has seen how I ride can attest that I do not baby the bike in any means.  All three Metzlers made it past 7600 miles on the rear and 2:1 for the fronts.  In the rain the Metzlers are the best tires I have ever used!  I had confidence to travel 90-100 in a torrential downpour to get around those nasty 18-wheelers!

Best of luck what ever you choose!
I'm at 5700 with my M3's.A little life left.It will be replaced with the same.

The last tires I baught were the Conti Road attack, you get the preformance of a street tire with the wear of a touring tire, I love these tires

I'm in the market for a tire. I was confused with which one I wanted, the PP 2CT's, or the Qualifier's, now I hear all the praises about the M'3s ? Now I'm all kind's of messed up !!

All messed up? Let me help. I doubt that you would be dissapointed with ANY of today's tires. If your willing to spend a little extra, IMO, Metzeler & Pirelli are at the top with Dunlop very close behind. My buddy swears by Michelins (R1). I've had no issues with Bridgestones, and used them at track days.

Most of my buddies that have tried Metzelers, have converted to them.

Dunlops offered me better wet traction over Bridgestones, but not by much. (wet track day comparo here)

Dry traction, I don't think you could tell the difference. (no offense bud) So, it all comes down to the 'feel' of the tires. There are suttle differences between the brands that you may or may not even notice. So try different brands till you find what YOU like.

And ofcourse, price vs milage. And the only way to find out on the milage is to run them!

Mich HPX good for 4000k 5000k Best handling tire dry or wet. Had a Dunlop 208 (CRAP) got 3000k on it and in cold weather the tire would break loose and would kick the bike out. Was nice if you like drifting on Two wheels.

(Loomis).

I had been running the Pirelli Corsa III on my track bike - it performed so well that I was panning to replace my OEM Bt56 on the Busa with the Corsa III.  However, at the last minute, I decided to go with Michelin Pilot Power 2CT.  So far, I really like them.   Now, I will have to see what kind of mileage I get.

btw:  I upgraded my track bike tires to Pirelli Dragon SuperCorsa Pro -- absolutely fantastic DOT race tire!!  This past weekend at Barber I drop 3 seconds off my lap times.

(kd185 @ Sep. 03 2007,08:43) in the past ive found tha metzlers are the best sport tire for MILEAGE
other wise ive always favored dunlops for the TRACK
my busa came with mich pilots so far so good with 1500 miles so far
Hmmmm....., My best mileage with the half dozen Metzelers I've owned has been around 3,500 miles. I've had a couple Avons and have essentially doubled the useful life at 6,500-7,000.

I just put a Bridgestone BT-21 on the rear. I rode 290 miles on it today & it feels good to me. The mileage has to be better than the BT-56s, 2800 on the 1st one & 2100 on the 2nd one. I'm kinda hard on rear tires.
