Best way to tie down Gen III on a trailer

I used a Canyon Dancer and straps hauling a Ducati 1,100 miles from Dillon MT over the Donner Summit at night in a bouncy pickup. I used taped and rolled up towels between the straps and the body work. The suspension shouldn’t be all the way unloaded or bottomed out so I laid across the bike to compress the shocks a bit while I adjusted everything so they can react to the bumps along the way w/o slamming too hard in either direction. Worked perfectly.

canyon dancers are fine, i have some and if you worry about the bar ends, what you do is get rubber washers which are slightly larger O/D than the I/D of the ends of the canyon dancers - stick them down to the bottom of the canyon dancer end cups.

while the bike is strapped down, you wanna compress things about an inch. needs to be able to move up and down, a little, that's the whole story. forks and shocks staying compressed a *small* amount is no issue at all. a million people have already done same thing, up to this point, and no ones suspension has ever exploded after they unhitched the bike.

just do a good job, take a couple mins to double check everything before you step away from the bike once done fastening everything down, and away you go.

A side note. If you have the Helibar riser you CAN NOT tie the front down via the handlebars. It explicitly says not to in the instructions.

Thanks for everyone's input and advice I appreciate it.

I was supposed to be on my way to Arizona for some warm weather throttle therapy instead I've had to postpone my trip because I picked up a cold and don't want to travel sick. I haven't had a cold in 4 years but Murphy's law must be in effect since I caught a cold the day before I was supposed to leave :-(

Anyway since I'm postponing my trip until after Christmas I'm going to buy the pit bull restraint system for the Hayabusa since its the best and safest system to load/unload the bike safely solo.
