Hey guys, been reading all your stories for the last few weeks, its great!!! I just picked up my busa 05/20/00. Let's ride baby!!

Howdy back at yer. Not long had my busa as well. Just put on a yshimura rs3 stainless system with titanium can. Sounds the dogs danglies now but I got to get it re-mapped.
Have you thought of any mods ??

HEY TARMAC,, OH WHY OF COURSE!!!!! 186 ISN'T FAST ENOUGH IS IT? THINKING OF PUTTING ON A MUZZY SYSTEM, BUT HAV'NT DECIDED YET, I LIKE TO WAIT A BIT TO SEE & HEAR SOME OTHER BUSA'S FIRST, PROBLEM IS NOT MANY BUSA'S AROUND HERE, OR I HAV'NT RUN INTO THEM YET! HOW DO LIKE YOUR SYSTEM?, PERFORMANCE INCREASE? HOW MANY H.P. & DOES IT SOUND BITCHIN?

Reason I say that is 'cause themotorhead and JohnnyCheese say the yosh bites in comparison to the others. They're the pros out here.

Yes there is a noticable urge for the front to lift when you gas it that wasnt there with the standard system but I have to say this maybe because of a "hole" or stumble thats appeared at around 1500- 2000 rpm. As I said I need to get the thing re-mapped. I know someone with a yosh box but he needs to know what settings to try. Anybody got a starter setting. By the way it sounds like rolling thunder man. Knocks leaves from the tree's on full chat yet is ok round town at legal speeds.. Im real pleased with it. It fits very well to and is well made as you would expect I guess.Ive chopped the rear fender off and put on mini indicaters which has "sported " up the arse end of the bike too. Where in the world are you ??

No you dope.
Where do you live in the world !!!!
Ive uleashed the busa on englands best roads today and lived to tell the tales............Tommorow we will conquer Wales, hehehehehe :O)))

Nice roads out there? Sounds kinda exotic from rainy Manchester England.
Do the Hayabusa's in the states have stricter emision laws to deal with , and if you do "mod" yer bike will it be picked up in regular checks if you have them?
My "stutter is really beginning to p**s me off now iRunning the bike down to a guy Ive been told of who's pretty "fly" with the yosh box........I'll keep yer informed....

oh yeah the road here around the bay area are bitchin for riding! Yes California does have srticter emmisions than the rest of the states. We just pull that stuff off when we do a modification and no they don't test bikes here for emmisions only cars & trucks with gas engines!
You should know my roots go back to England! i'm actually Canadian born My last name is Woodhouse I'm sure youv'e heard of it In england...later dinners ready!

Well I have had the remapping done and ...well I guess its ok.......It has a load of grunt at the bottom end now which was missing before but its now popping and banging when on the over-run. Does anybody have any solutions ??
Over all the bike does run smoother but its kinda embarrasing backfireing every time I come off the gas.

Hey you, Brit rat, that's what's been gone over and over and over again already on this board. A lot of aftermarket complete exhaust-systems will have yer Busa backfiring on closed throttle (bad habit anyway) and solution turns out to be removal of PAIR system or at least making it inoperable. Do a search on PAIR (spend some quality time with yer 'puter) and you'll sure find all the answers about PAIR removal and such!

Should have removed that "octopus" at the same time when exhaust was mounted like advised by many here. 8-)

Tarmac: Go to the GENERAL DISCUSSION BOARD about that problem. I do remember seeing several members talking about that before, but can't remember what the fix was. There's several sharp guys out there who I know will be more than happy to help you fix that problem! Good Luck! WOODY!

OK OK guys. You know the rat aint the brightest bulb in the box dont yer. But it does have attitude.
What the F**K is the PAIR removal you are jawing about Animal my friend.
Ive only had this busa for a few weeks so I admit to being green about it still.
Beginning to regret messin with it to be honest..........still Ive started so I'll finish !!

Hey Tarmac Rat, I was just fooling 'round a bit there.
PAIR is Suzuki's version of a clean air injection system into the exhaust ports consisting of a vacuum valve (sitting in front of the engine behind the exhaust headers slightly above oilfilter) sucked-on via vacuum-line from #4 cylinder throttlebody, getting its (clean) air via a hose coming from the right rear bottom of the airbox and "injecting" that air via first hoses and then metal pipes connected to each cylinder just above where exhaust headers mount to cylinderhead.
This whole octopus means even cleaner exhaust gases (in addition to the "cat" further down in the OEM exhaust on non-US models) in preparation for planned future even stricter emissions laws in Europe but to my knowledge there's currently no laws against removing this unless you live in Germany where you can't even freely choose what tires you want on your bike.
Many people have found their Busa to start backfiring and such after having mounted complete replacement exhaust system and it was found that in general this goes away when making PAIR inoperable at least (or going all the way to remove ALL of it and make sure you somehow "close" those 4 small holes in the cylinderhead, the airbox connection and the vacuum-connection at the #4 throttlebody).
If you do a search on PAIR here (or have a look at where someone else is pointing you above) you should be able to learn the several ways of doing this from just "blocking" the supply hose from the airbox upto removing it all and buying a.o. block-off plates from someone for the holes in the cylinderhead.

Animal
Over here in UK "jawing about" is slang for talking about, it aint meant as an insult!!
:)

Ratty
if it aint broke....don't try and fix it!
You really have started playing with a bottomless pit for money I tell yer!!
Save your spondoolies for rear rubber, sure as sh1t going to need it!
A few mods worth doing (IMHO)
Bagluk Tank Harness
NWS hugger (goes below swing arm to stop crud getting on lower linkage)
Replace fuel return line with braided car stuff
Hose clamps on fuel lines
Red Line Si2 injector cleaner
Get Throttle Bodies and Throttle Position Sensor sorted
Mobil 1 for Bikes
D207 rear tyre
Take off and grease up both shift lever and rear brake lever
Take out and copperslip up brake bads every 500 mile
Cut rear mudflap, small number plate
Use Autoglym M/C cleaner followed by their super Resin polish
Get service manual
Fit Scottoiler

Thats about it for the moment, :)
Just put 7200 miles on mine since 1/3/00 needs service bad!!! running like pile of steamy pooh.....TTS Silverstone are the lucky guys this time. Have heard rave reviews about them.

Hope this helps
