Bike to Bike Communication

Is the autocom even made anymore? Not many for sale, might be worried you couldn't get support or extra units in the future.

You need to call Keith at Tulsa Truck Supply, he is this areas Autocom dealer, is a rider, and can hook you up with anything you need. 918-446-2245.

about to purchase autocom, the other systems seem to have fewer attachment options and poor sound quality.working with Keith, he is very knowledgeable/helpful.

I can see the upside of the communication, potholes, gravel, cops etc.

I like to enjoy the sound of my bike, be able to concentrate on the road and upcoming hazards without someone blaring in my ear. I would think it would be like cell phones in cars, distracted driving.

Just my 2 cents

On a regular day ride I would probably tend to agree with you... But on a road trip over 14 days 7 States and 4000ish miles with 4 riders I think communication with each other is necessary...

My buddy and I logged thousands of miles with these. Awsome setup.

Two button opperation. Very easy to connect any bluetooth device. Been caught in the rain many times and there still tickin. The volume and sound is incredible. The charge will last 12hrs of use. When i take a call no one has even knew i was on a bike. Well worth the money.

+1 my regular ride isn't just hitting the curves outside of town for a couple hours...communication becomes necessary when you are on the road for days at a time or if you are putting together a ride with up to 50 Busa's at a time...it is much easier to let the ride leader know that someone has gone down rather than have to chase everyone down and get them turned around while trying to deal with an accident at the same time

Unfortunately this has been tested out too many times with and with out comms.

does anyone know of a system that will 'cross platform'? meaning, my bros all have chatterbox units. can i get an autocom and still chat with them or am i forced to used the chatterbox (if i want to talk)?

Autocom has nothing to do with who you communicate with. Its about the radio connected to it. Chatter box will communicate with any FRS radio. You can run chatterbox with motorola, kenwood, etc radios. The newer versions of chatterbox I think(dont quote me) also can communicate the GMRS which are higher power frequenices. I dont remember the cut off, its like channel 15 and up for the higher wattages.

Last year in Eureka, I had a throat mic connected to a motorola 2 pin radio, semi had a chatterbox, and captain and unclesteve both had Autocoms, we could all talk, except I couldnt hear them and they couldnt hear me over 40 mph.

right, rf is rf is rf, but the question is which sets of radios will work with others. i would like to keep in contact with the group on rides, but i keep hearing bad things about the chatter box.

and sorry for the uneducated question, i havent looked (or heard of) autocom until i got to this board.
