Ok guys, i started the ol GS this morning, no problem. I decided i was gonna go ahead and paint the engine today. I taped everything off, took off the foot break, and started. I just finished and i tried to start it, but it will only start if i hold the throttle and keep it reved up a little. If i let it drop down to idle, it dies. I got a little paint on 1 of the spark plugs, but i took some sand paper and cleaned it off. That still didnt fix it so i went and bought 4 new plugs and still nothing. Any ideas?

Did you take the airbox off? If so, maybe something is keeping the air from flowing properly causing it to die. From now on, no working in the bike on Tuesday, it always seems that when you work on it Tuesday, it doesn't work Tuesday night.

Did you paint it "Smurf blue?" I hear that can really screw up a perfectly good bike.

ok guys, im not saying this is definitely what it was, but just a tip to the rest of you, it helps to put the plug wires back on the correct plugs.

well at least u didnt completely forget to put them back on...

and what did we learn from thiiiiiiis?

that tape can be used to mark the wires also just not to prevent paint on unwanted parts..
