Birthday ride gone bad

you didn't have a dress code in school? How far back do you wish to defend that concept?

I had a dress code in school. Of course when i was in school they were still making certain ethnic groups ride in the back of the bus, drink from different water fountains and use different restrooms! How long do you want to defend that kind of mentality?
Predjudice is predjudice.

Heh, I edited my post while you were replying. Oh well, I agree, no more threadjack. :)

If nothign else, it sucks that things didn't work out as planned. Nothing is worse than making plans for the day only to have them dashed by unforseen circumstances.

I guess it is a case of "what is acceptable" not so much discrimination

a t-back bikini in church? (it would be acceptable at the resort in question I bet)

ya know.....come to think of it he's right.

with technology today we should be able to stop you from doing anything we want because of anything about you. Currently you can change your religion, gender and according to Micheal Jackson....skin color ...so if we can't discriminate againist those things per the constitution....they are now "choices" in modern society....so how is clothing any different?

Maybe he discriminated againist ya because you're ugly....change that and go back.

Anyway, according to Bill Engvall.....you can't change stupid so that must still be protected by the Constitution.

Sorry the ride went bad, but nothing you can do except boycott. I and some of my riding buds have been refused service, nothing confrontational just asked them if they wanted us to take our business elsewhere. They said yes and we went across the street and spent over $300 between 5 of us on lunch and beverages. Now we are 'regular' working guys all in our 40's to 60's and not wearing patches or Mohawks. Posh resorts don't cater to us scooter trash and could care less if our feelings are hurt.

The free market worked. The place across the street obviously will be more succesful in the long run.

The only time I was ever refused service was once when I rode up on this thing. It was long ago but I still get a little upset when I think about it???

It was at a little drive in dive called the Frosty Freeze...I don't I would have attempted to enter a Marriott Resort on it:laugh:

the place is a beach side resort that sells rooms at $600+ per night.. I am going to expect a certain level of "resort" feel if I am shelling out this kind of money..

When I sit down in the cantina, I would also expect a certain decorum I guess..

I see no foul in requiring a certain level of dress when I have customers spending $1000 per day or more per person.. Just really not a good destination for a large group ride I suppose.. (I can sure see why they went there, the website has some great pictures of the place..)

Marco Island Florida Marriott Beach Resort, Spa & Golf Course on Marco Island Florida check the place out... just does not look like a good venue for leathers, colors or mohawks... :)

It looks lika a nice enough place...let's have the Fall Bash there:whistle:

I hate to say it, but private business has the right to refuse cleintel so long as it's not based on race, religion, etc. I know it sucks, but you can't claim discrimination (legally) based on being a biker.

Thats why we ride with a few of the African American peeps a few gals some nice Italians, we got the religion angle covered too we got everything from baptist to satanist in the group.. something about bikes brings all kinda people together. Except this guy @ the hotel must be a HD rider never occurred to me. I really don't care myself one way or the other just would never go there or stay there an of course trash talk over the internet an write bad reviews against them.

You're biggest problem is not having the most professional person representing your group...ideally somebody like me who knows how to talk with C-level people on a professional basis evryday but who also rides a bike beyond the level most people would ever hope to achieve.

If you can reason with the decision maker and follow up on your promises then it would likely never be an issue. You start pokin' at the guy and forget it.
