bolt testing video

Already done that bro , even the stockish set up I ran had carbon bars , drilled ti bolts holding that plate to stock triple , plus every fastener on entire front end ti or aluminum . The latest set up , top triple and clip ons weighs just over 1kg total , complete with full ti fasteners . Ohlins saved close to 4kg compared to stock , not including ti mounted ohlins damper , and again full ti fasteners and ti axle . With lithium battery , swapover to Shorai , saved over 2 kg compared to stocker . :rolleyes:View attachment 1580707
So what is the total amount of weight saved? You've obviously calculated the total saved, very interested to know, it must handle like a dream :super:

Yes Six , I can understand people thinking I might be pretty chuffed to be sporting some ti internally.. , and yeah I am  .
Now lads , the L2 was weighed with 12 liters of gas in the tank , a couple of months ago . The local sand and metal joint down the road gave me 220kg when I put it on their platform . Now , I have discussed this and the weigh station might be a bit out , and or rounds it out ?? Anyway , rough estimate , 210kg no fuel ??
The bike has since received further reductions , the controls set up is new and the front guard . There is a couple more things yet to to , but that is basically it for this bike .
Now Kiwi Rider , this bike doesn't feel fat no more , I can tell you that , and the suspension is awesome , but depending on how much weight loss and exercise I can do now I'm running more ti myself ..., the L2's current or spare TTX36 will be re sprung for my future weight range , and reset the fork as well . I am hoping to score another Busa to fit up with all my spare stuff , I have full Ohlins sets for 2 more Busa . :)

Hi. The Ti rear shock spring was only $600.00 the motor mount and rear shock bolts were $800.00. I can not say anything about the carbon fiber bars because they not aloud in LSR racing but OK in drag racing so mine are painted black. The trees are on order. My tank and body work is carbon fiber. The frame will be raked 5 deg and short necked. All useless tabs will be removed also the ram air mounting lips on the frame will be ground down flush. Also the brace under the neck will be remover. The steel tank mount will be custom made from aluminum. Even the clutch pusher is custom made from Ti. In side the motor the bolts that hole the oil squrters for the bottom of the pistons are aluminum The case bolts will be Ti and aluminum I am still looking for some one to make light calipter pistons. I will call A1 Cardone to see if they can make them out of a lighter weight phnolic plastic.

Love it Mike , the Ultimate Badass Street Busa . Not a gram excess weight on her , really the ultimate expression of outlaw street Busa !! Hey that ti spring is really do able , be talking to you later about that bro .

I could only afford an aluminum tank...

Yes KML , but what a lovely piece it is , I think I can see the kiss and caress marks on the polish bro !! I often get notifications when Yoshi Japan are having a sale .... and this piece is always featured along with some other goodies I got on my wishlist . I have got some bad yearning for Yoshi bits , and am thinking about pulling the trigger on something later on in the year . Love that Gen 1 of yours KML , give that throttle a twist for the toad next time you're out riding together bro . :super:

 I have no exotic lightweight parts on my busa. Run of the mill weighloss mods here.

You got 2 great hyper bikes though Mythos , that has to be a pretty good position to be in ,eh bro ! I realize though , that with 2 bikes , every $ spent has to count , and researched value in regards to performance vs weight and cost is what you certainly do very well , so I enjoy your considered analysis on these things . Be looking forward to your new ride season , so we can get to hear about your riding adventures , and maybe see some more footage of that mate :) riding your bike on those posted gopro clips !!

I'm thinking of shaving 50lbs off my busa too. Won't cost me a dime, actually it is free and will save me money. Put my fat arse on a diet and lose 50lbs. There you have it and it will make my busa go faster. Beat that on price savings!!

Not faster, quicker. LSR vehicles are pretty heavy and very fast but they’re not very quick.

Thinking Mikes maybe the exception when it come to actual weight of bike . This LSR will be amazingly lightweight , and if it ain't quick it's because no traction . We already know that Mike has a history of building quick machines , ie; a 7 second Kawasaki streeter was one bike wasn't it ?? . So I'm betting he's researched this venture to the maximum , and this will be the resulting bike of many years accumulated wisdom .

Hi. Mr TOAD you are far to kind.I have failed many times. I have been involved in setting 154 NHRA records but I have never set one my self. So this one will be my last race bike. The 7.69 sec was 1460 IDBA PRO STOCK. Onlyon the street do a few races as it needed a battery cart to start with about a 16 to1 motor it needed 24 volts to start. I used 2 12 volt car batteries in a little red wagon and a modified car starter.

I sure hope so ROADTOAD. Right now, I'm wondering where I'll come up with $$ for tires!! Also still a bit gun shy after my brush with the law this winter driving without insurance or registration!! Cops will be eyeing me on the bikes, I know it. They already stopped me in my new daily driver and I know it was JUST to check my insurance and registration which I now have. I definitely want to keep out of trouble after that but I don't see how I could go all summer without a few good blasts of speed! LOL I'm working hard to find a new job so I can afford to hang onto these beauties!
