Bu-Bye Suzuki........

sorry to hear about the corruption. glad you can take some time to spend with the family though.\\

is there a number i can call about this setup and shipping thing i just got nailed for it just under a grand. so if i can call someone to get the scoop from it would be cool to have some amo when i call my salesman back before i pick it up...
What bike are you buying?

I've seen F&S from 450 to 1200. When I bought my 00 Busa new they tried that with me also, I paid 11,700 for my first Busa, they were easily going to sell all of the Busas they could get so getting the price down wasn't going to happen. I got 800 more than I paid for my trade in (that I bought the day before) so I could live with the high retail price but they didn't charge for F&S, they tried though. F&S is filling it with fluids and charging the battery.

Oil, gas, charge battery, check tire pressure, ride it 15 miles. Wipe off finger prints. An hour of labor at most, 60-70 bux.

I am not sorry for you Ted.

I am happy you did what you did. Sometimes a man needs to stand up and do what he beleives.

A man of integrity , who's consistent, with a hard work ethic should have "NO" problem finding another job.

Good Luck

Nothin wrong with having Integrity

It's all about the owner, doesn't matter how good you are, he's the boss. I've had to butt heads with a few owners along the way to get what I wanted, what they should of been doing all along.

How about the dealers that try to charge you for the passenger seat/solo cover? Theives!

Freight and set up? It's a common practice to lower the sale price but add it on the back side of the sale, (F&S), always good to check around and see who is charging what for F&S, a good deal can become a not so good deal if F&S is high.

The crappy part is if you are trying to buy something in high demand, you won't be able to get them to budge on any of their gouging. Educate yourself so you can avoid dealers that are dishonest.

These practices aren't limited to motorcycle sales, car dealers are worse and better at it. They'll screw anyone that lets em.

Good for you, hope you find a reputable dealer to work for.
Good point lota fun r.
A guy I rode with screwed me on a car deal not long ago. tried telling me he was hooking me up. Needless to say - I don't speak with him any longer.
I just don't get it though. For years I worked in Sales Management for a company that tought there salespeople 'selling with soul'. Selling a customer as you would like to be sold. Its not that hard. Fair deals are a way of getting more traffic through the door. People talk up good deals - which in turn drums up future business.
When you pound the #### out of customers they are 10 times more likely to tell someone of the beating they took! Thats if they dont wise up before they sign docs.....

Anyways. Thanks again all!

It sucks that you were in a spot where you even had to make that decision. Doing the right thing is more important when it costs you something. Hope your decision pans to be the right one, especially with a new one on the way.

If you do go to work for a competing manufacturer though you will have to be a bit dishonest with yourself and your customers to sell something.

Ted's internal monolog:
"OK Kawasaki, Yamaha, and Honda are the best in the world and Suzuki sucks!"
"Alright I will say this a thousand more times and write it on the chalk board until I believe it, it worked with the whole 'Bush lied' deal so it will work for me"

Ted's sales dialog:
"This new ZX-14 is the coolest thing since sliced bread and Suzuki will never have anything that can touch it, Oh yeah and I 'used' to own a Hayabusa and even it didn't have these neat Ferrari scoops on the side of it, what a POS it was"

Ted falls apart:
"OK, OK I cannot tell a lie, I love Suzuki's, they are the best in the world and will ruin the ZX-14 with the new Hayabusa before it even has a chance at any glory, I didn't sell my Busa but will to buy a new model so I can spank the POS you are about to buy because I sold out"
"Come on, I have a baby to feed, the bike isn't that bad"
"Oh and I was in the Army where I learned how to kill people who aggrevate me, so will this be cash or charge?"

So you see how the whole thing could come full circle and you become a wholy dishonest person just because you are trying to be an honest person, feed your kid and have some integrity. The road to hell is paved with good intentions so the lesson here is not to forget who the best is, SUZUKI!

EVERY JOB I'VE EVER QUITED OR GOT FIRED FROM THE NEXT JOB WAS ALWAYS BETTER. KEEP YOUR HEAD UP.

Sounds like you made a good decision Ted. I'm sure you'll land on your feet and quick. Finding an honest dealership has been tough for me - no luck yet. Bottom line is normally the dollar, not the customer - but most dealerships (at least in my area) have so many walk-in customers they can afford to piss off a certain percentage of them, and still stay in the Black. Although some of the dealerships in my area have developed such a bad rep, many steer well clear of them.

Here's an idea. Team up with Johnny Cheese and start you're own dealership! I'd definitely order my next machine from your establishment!

Finally, thanks for your help with my Busa Helmet order. It finally showed up yesterday. Best of luck!

I am not the Sales manager @ Suzuki of Tomball no longer. I walked today. The situation was horrible. Short of slander I will leave it @ that. All I can tell you is to shop around and dont let anyone freight & set-up you when you buy. Its included from Suzuki in the price of the bike.
There are ethical salespeople out there. You just have to find them! Integrity is not just an Army term I picked up while serving. Hopefully you all practice this. I do. Always will.
I will not work for an unethical know-it-all who is out of touch with todays buyers for one more day. So - I left. No more compromising.

I may be making a move to a different manufacturers sales-team. But who cares? I'm not trading in the Busa.

For those that I was able to hook-up a good price for - thank you for everything. My year there was very successful.
H A T S O F F T O Y O U !!!!!! Good man!

The Marine Corps prides itself in core values which we attempt to instill in recruits early in recruit training......they are simple:
H O N O R
C O U R A G E
C O M M I T M E N T

You exemplify all these! Keep your head up warrior!

Glad to hear you stuck to your principles. No point in working for someone you don't respect.

It's their loss, not yours.

Best wishes for your future career.

well, the best of luck to you and the family, Ted. Honor and integrity seem to be quite scarce nowadays.

Good on ya for upholding your values.

Hey Ted,

Sorry to hear about the situation over at your former Zuk dealer. BTW-I'm planning on buying a new K6 but one dealer quoted me 12 out the door. Is that b/c they added freight and setup again? What is a decent price to ask for? Anyways, I hope your future ventures are a success. Best Regards,

Ryan
