Buell peg mod or Rearsets?

I'm in a bit if dilemma on making a choice. Some of it is because I'm getting mixed info on what I can do with rear sets and what they actually do. I'm 6'3" and when I rise my Busa I have an enormous amount of pressure on my feet. Sometimes I think I'd be better off just standing up!! Surprisingly I rode an R1 and was more comfortable on it (except for my butt going to sleep!). What do you guys think? What did y'all do for this same problem?

I am 6'2 and I have the exact problem as you, after a couple hours my feet are in a lot of pain, my brother has a r1 and his pegs feel much more comfortable to me

Buell peg mod, risers and/or helibars.
Buy in for both is less than a cheap set of rearsets.
I'm 6'4", and going this route turned an hour of pain into an all day Sasquatch friendly ride.

Haven't needed to do this, but here's some information for you

I didn't watch it, but he states early on that it lowers the peg position about 1 1/4 inches

You'll have to decide if you want to pay for the looks and extreme adjustable vortex or go the cheap route with pegs that drop an inch. Best of luck.

Didn't know Vortex made a set of "drag style" rearsets. Those and the Sato Drags are the only rearsets I know of that adjust lower than stock-most adjust higher and further back than stock. Try the Buells with a 3/4 riser and Helibars(on sale in March) and maybe a slightly taller seat such as the Zuk gel seat or the Saddleman Tech seat and you'll be good to go.

I have Cycle Pirates 360 Adjustables on my Buell and they are the most awesome thing I ever did for myself!!! I am 6'6" and they work great for me!!!!!! I WILL be putting them on my Busa as well

Also, depending on what exhaust system you're running you may not be able to use all the adjustability the rearsets have to offer-I'd suggest using the Buells and spend some of the money you save on a taller seat.

I am 6'5" and went with the buells and love em!!!

I had looked at rearsets originally but 400+ bucks for something 99% of the time no one will ever see ??? I wish i could go with a taller bar, but mines so low i'm almost touching windscreen to begin with, but just lowering those pegs down do take quite a bit of the weight off your wrists.

I vote Vortex. They give you flexibility to remain stock, lower, raise, or move up and back. Another plus is the actual peg has grip. I had the Buell pegs and I never was totally happy with them.

Well I went today and ordered some of the Cycle Pirates. I'll give them a try first. If they don't work I'll sale them or even build my own set.

you can do either one.. the buell mod would be cheapest. drops your foot an inch and i see there are other after market ones that go two in drops but there you may run into the intermediate pipe.. between header and cans. I did the standard mod to mine and love it tho i am only 5' 8". You will need to adjust the shift lever which is easy and then the brake one which is a little more complicated.. but overall a cool mod.. my suggestion on the buell peg mod.. use a pedastal mounted belt sander as you will need to "grind" em down to fit stock busa mounts and as well some copper tubing to"shim" the stock pin as Buell holes are larger. Any questions feel free to email me. I also did the hump mod here to use as a storage for items.. good luck in whatever way you decide to go on the pegs..

Has anyone tried to just cut or grind the rubber off the factory pegs. I'm thinking it might give a guy about 3/4-1". I been thinking bout it. But just haven't took the time.

Two screws on the bottom and they fall off  I hope that you come back and let everyone know what you did and what you think about it.

Vario pegs from Twisted Throttle, heli-bars and Genmar .75 riser will make you bike a completely different ride.

Yea man. I'm gonna try it today. I might be a lil upset if it works out being I've already spent $100 on new stuff!

Don't worry...You won't be upset. Those things will be slick as butter without the rubber on them..not to mention that it will look like crap.

+1, I have the Vortex too.
Mine are adjusted all the way up, this of coursegets your knees higher, and in turn your upper leg is straighter out.
I find it more comfortable, but that's just a personal preference
