I replaced the stock fan with a Muzzy fan. That sucka moves some air! It's not summer yet, but we've had several days close to 90. Hasn't gotten above 1/2 yet!
How is the Muzzy better than stock other than being metal and not melting? I think they both have the same amount of blades..maybe its the pitch of the blades??
Muzzy is better that stock because it want melt from the heat of the header...
The pitch is also different. The Muzzy moves more air than the stock fan.

Switch to engine ice and the new muzzy fan. It may not look that diffrent but the first time it kicks on you can tell the diffrence. Moves alot more air and brings the temp down quicker. Good luck with that.

S_G--that happened to me on my '05 Busa. Picked her up, on the way home got stuck in traffic. Went almost to red, and red light on temperature guage didn't come on (if it does, stop and turn it off). Later, fan kicked in about 1/2 way, and continues to do so. Read somewhere that it was probably the fan sticking because it had never come on. You can tell dealer, but if it's working now, they'll likely just say its ok.

Mine has gotten close to red 2 times. Once I was low on coolant, My fault!!!!
The other was when I was sitting in traffic heading towards the Drag strip to race. I just took some back roads and it cooled right away. I am getting the muzzy fan and better coolant though cause I am in Florida and the heat is just beginning.

do you have a micron map in the pcIII ? It will run lean with a stock map and a full exhaust (lean= hot)

, out here I cool her down by just passing both cars making up our traffic and hit 70 +

! That really cools her down FAST

Run the bike at idle and see if the fan comes on as the needle goes just past the center...If the fan does not come on that's your problem...

I've had the same issue since I bought my Busa...had to pull over twice while on rides in VA Beach cruising the strip; seems to really hate that thick stop and go traffic...fan kicks on, coolant levels are great...

Another member here just found his Busa's having some of the same issues, so he had the coolant system flushed; hopefully that'll fix it. That's what I need to try, also have a Muzzy fan (compliments of yamahor) and I think I'll try engine ice. My needle was just scant seconds from hitting the red mark and my Busa's a-okay...just keep an eye on it 'til you figure out the problem...

That bike should not be getting that hot.  Since it's new take it back to the dealer and tell him how hot it got.  Tell him to check coolant and burp the system.  I have a feeling you got an air bubble in it.  I have been sitting in traffic in 110+ days and it has never gotten that hot.  Air in the line would do that.
+1. The Busa will clear the air out of the system on its own, but you don't want to keep running hot while its working on it. Have the dealer hook it up and suck the air out.

It may help to twist the throttle (raise the rpm) while stuck in traffic...Doing so will keep the coolant flowing through the system.

mine got hot, in the red for just a few seconds, last summer, got going and she cooled off. Got a Muzzy fan and put water wetter in and so far this year alls well, but not summer yet.

thanks to all for all the info. i feel a lot better now knowing it is'nt that uncommon. ran her today and no problems.

when i take her in for the undertail next week they will go over the whole bike.

again, sincere thanks.

your situation is just same as mine...last Aug. I picked up my bike from outa state and I bring her back to home and I got stuck at traffic...and I saw my niddle was near red dot...once, and I start calling around dealer to find out? says it is normal to get that high...in summer time. alot of service dept. guy says that...

some of our member says even if its middle of summer, it not suppose to go that high, but I put more weigh on the service dept. guys words... plus, I'm also changing antifreeze to engine ice and the muzzy fan on this up coming oil change...preparing for this summer....
