Busa now 2nd fastest production bike?

"The VRXSE Screamin' Eagle® V-Rod® Destroyerâ„¢ is H-D's first out-of-the-box, drag racing motorcycle. Based on the VRSCâ„¢ family and tuned by Custom Vehicle Operations, this bike can do a quarter mile run in under 10 seconds"

This is a drag racing bike. That's all it was made to do. Also, with riders of equal skill, the Busa would be about the same.
No.

The Destroyer is quicker. I know of no dead-stock and documented Busa (and I mean dead-stock... no sprocket, no lowering, no nothing... nada, zip, zero... box stock right off the floor), even with a professional rider running a 9.02 ET. I have the article at home documenting that ET.

The quickest dead stock Busa time I have ever heard of was the 9.43 run a while back in a comparo with the ZX-12.
Right, but the Busa is street legal. If someonr dropped 31 grand on a Busa on the right stuff, no HD could keep up.

I appreciate what you're saying, but it reminds me of the following saying which was standard in the Marines:

"If butterflies carried machine guns, birds wouldn't f*** with them."

Give HD their props. They wanted the world's quickest production bike, and they built it.

not a street bike , never will be a street bike . the busa is the best of bolth worlds ! i also think that this is verry limited production ! so i doubt they will ever see the track , probably end up with collectors ! i can see some pore schmuck buyin one and takin it to the strip and blowin it up . and harley tellin them your beat , no warranty ! 31000 dollar blowed up race hd for sale . CHEAP !

I wouldn't pay $30,000+ for a drag strip only HD. Put that money into a Busa+nice turbo setup and you'll have a Street-Legal bike that'll top the HD. Hell, Barry Henson already does low 7's with his Velocity setup and w/o the wheelie bar+streetable. Now that's impressive!!

I thought the comparo was ridiculous too. Why compare a bike that's made for drag only to a bike that's streetable. I guess Motorcyclist Magazine just had to go against the grain. Again, throw in a Ghetto or Velocity and it's over!

The move they made with this bike actually makes complete sense in the market they are in. It's for the guys who can't afford to build a drag bike from scratch that want to start racing. It is only as limited production as there are buyers. Harley will sell quite a few.

<-- Works in the industry, even though he won't buy a Harley.

Quickest but not fastest. said its to dethrone the Busa as the quickest bike? Busa is the Fastest. Some argue litre bikes are quicker than the Busa, but not faster. Marketing ploy tactic used many times. But sure I will give HD props for having the quickest stock moto ON THE DRAG STRIP. not street legal :-D

There's gonna be a HD drag class for the destroyer in the HD drag series. There's no warranty offered for it. It's an "As-is" for $31K.

HMMM..... So I get, a 9 sec. 1/4 mile bike, not streetable, handles for shid, barely quicker than the busa whish is $20k less, AND NO WARRANTY for only $31,000!!!!! WHERE DO I SIGN UP?!! (sarcasm off)

Pacer, you are correct. I hadn't seen the new numbers yet. I was still looking at testing numbers before release.

As for the bike, it's being built to compete for sales in the pre-built race bike program. There is a similar offering from a few companies in the Prostck class, such as G2 Motorsports offering.

Basically, it's a fctory built race bike package for those people who want to make an attempt to run with the big boys, or for people who don;t have a ton of R&D money to start racing.
So it's a drag bike in a box? That's stupid.

The part the magazine left out is, it can't really make it a full 1/4 mile. Parts vibrate off of it before the race is over!
