Can you use the stand on either side of the bike or does the plate only match up with the chain side?

Well...that's garbage engineering I agree with the price tho...nuts the center stand is so expensive when almost nobody wanted it!
I hate using my rear stand, and I have no way of lifting the front end without hoisting my bike with strap shibari. I just want to lift the bike up centered so I can remove both wheels, sprocket cover, calipers, etc.

It's actually not bad engineering either.
It's just that most motorcycles are weight biased to the front to improve control and handling.
I don't know of a bike with a center stand that you can rock to either the front or the back tire and it stay there, every one I've owned or seen rests on the front tire while on a factory center stand.

I definitely understand the need for one of these...I've had 2 bikes now with no center stand OR ability to put them on a standard motorcycle jack since there is no bottom frame.
I'm strongly considering hunting down a factory 1st gen center stand just so I can remove the front wheel without getting sketchy.

Hi. Just use a floor jack under the rear shock. You can get the rear wheel up off the ground. Use a block under the header and you can get the front wheel up off the ground. Or if you can get to the oil pan.
