Busa parts never die

We had a yard sale last year and I had my old OEM grapefruit launchers laying on the ground with 20 bucks on them. Guy walks up and asks me about them and I say they are off of my Busa. He asked me what size engine was in the bike and based on his prowess to date, I just said a 4 cylinder. He got a big grin on his face and said, "Mines a four cylinder too". He hacked them up and put them on a mid 80s toyota or nissan (don't remember which). Welcome to the south....

Still waiting for TwoBros to come in here with said story...

I'd love to see pics of that!

Need to hear it also:whistle: I've got my stock cans and starting to plan a system for the monte carlo:laugh:

2006 motorcycle mufflers have got to flow better than 1996 car mufflers, i mean come on technology:laugh:

Let's do a little physics here. For simplicity, we'll ignore the frequency effects on flow and only consider total flow through the cans.

A 1300 cc Busa turning 11,000 rpm flows as much exhaust as a 2600 cc engine turning 5,500 rpm.

Most econobox engines redline more like 6,500, so the max size car engine using Busa cans should be about 1300 x 11000/6500 = 2200 cc = 2.2 liters. You'd probably be fine up to about 2.5 liters given that a Busa engine probably flows a lot more than most car engines used in anything other than a performance car. For reference, I believe my miata engine in stock form puts out a peak of 170 hp and redlined at 7,250 rpm, so that is in the ballpark of Busa figures.

In conclusion, this sounds like a good use of old Busa cans to me!

i have a 1997 volkswagen jetta, i might stick one of my stockers on it and see what it sounds like:laugh:
