Busa "To Do" list before Bash

I've been talking to Busa Chemist about his wobble issue with his busa because I've got the same issue and I realized that I have a list of stuff do to her before the Bash that requires some disassembling and out of commission for a few days.

1. Check bearings on front end, may need to repack or replace (most likely replace)
2. Lower front 1" and install risers
3. Change clutch fluid (gettin low and dirty!)
4. Change steering damper fluid (might as well)
5. Replace kickstand and kickstand assembly.
My bike has leaned over more on the kickstand than others since I've had it because previous owner bent the assembly and I'm getting sick of it! Current stand is fine but got a new kickstand from shadiguy and it looks brand new so of course I'm putting it on!!) I just had to order an assembly from ebay that came with the kickstand so I'll have 2 extra stands. Anybody need one??
6. Replace chain
7. Install new headlight bulbs (not HID kit but brighter, white bulbs I got from ebay)

I get to check off one item already:

Replace bulbs. It's going to be a long week!

But I get to be greasy and learn something new which always makes me feel better!!!

Jess, make sure you change the sprockets when you replace the chain. It's always best to do it in sets if wear is the reason.

If you're lowering the front 1" you might want to hold off on the kick stand.

My list is down to changing oil and filter before leaving.

Heh.... let's see...

I need to start by putting all this back in/on my engine:

...and that's just for starters!!

I was thinking that in the back of my mind too. The reason the assembly was bent in the first place was because the previous owner took the cheap way out when it was lowered and just heated it up. Bending it back is not a good idea but I'm sick of using my ass and legs just to get her off the stand.

order a few things that were missing, should be here this week. By monday should have everything sorted and ready to roll!!!

+1 on sprockets with the chain change.

So you reverting back to a stock kickstand on a bike that is going to be lowered 1" in front? I'd be a little concerned of a "Cow Tip". Maybe have the spare one cut and welded since you have two. Add the "kickstand mod" to the list. Peace of mind of having to put effort to get it off the stand isn't such a bad idea IMO. Considering the cost of replacing "plastics(custom painted)".

Have fun and enjoy!

Hhhmm.. Let's see.. My Busa is in Sarajevo, so I could try to ride it across Europe and then over the Atlantic and onto North America in order to make the Bash...

I have given some thought to just buying a Brand New '08 for the weekend in question, well thar, or just spring for the Ducati 1098.

Then there is the fact that my Rune is in San Diego and I could ride it across the US over 2000miles and 32hours of riding time. That would be a heck of an "IronButt".

My friend does have a VTX1300 in NC that he is willing to lend me for the weekend.

Renting is an option, but I have to admit that I haven't looked into it very much.

Going there in a car would be plain sad but may very well be what I do..

I am sure my Busa brethren could overlook all of that and just welcome me with Beer and open arms considering my situation.

Decisions... decisions.

I need to put about 500 miles on her so I can change oil/filter, change coolant, clean/lube chain and detail her. Hmm, I think I'll start with adding the miles today!

lets see mine is:

1. replace left fairing
2. replace right fairing
3. replace mirror
4. replace scuffed stator
5. replace plastic piece under rad.
6. replace clutch lever
7. repaint fairings to match
8. change oil

Okay, maybe some of it will wait till I get back
