Call me crazy...

Hey all,
I've been lurking around the site for a while now and figured I'd finally sign up and post.

I recently bought a 2004 'Busa on Ebay and in a few weeks I'm flying up to Seattle Washington and riding my new girl all the way back to Texas  I've been riding for about 4 years now and finally have the money to upgrade to my dream bike.

I have to wait until December to pick her up because I work as a marine engineer and I'm on board a ship right now in the Indian Ocean. I've been learning as much as I can from this site and it has been extremely helpful. I've already got a list of things I want to do as soon as I'm back home in Austin.

Yeah, December is winter time and it's gonna be a long, wet ride, but after being on a ship for the past 4 months I'm ready to finally get back on a bike!

Bike info:
2004 Blue and Silver
Yoshi slip-ons
6" Extended swing arm (I've got the stock one as well, I may go back to stock since I like the twisties)
7,000 miles
I got a hell of a deal on it so I'll have some money to spend on Mods

congrats and welcome :) P.S. I also bought a bike on ebay (seller in PA) so I can't call you crazy

"YOU'RE CRAZY~!" LOL.....just kidding

Congrats on your new purchase the wait will be worth it! And thank you for your service :usa:

Crazy is right, seattle to texas in december? WOW, tougher guy then me:bowdown:

Enjoy her and ride safe, maybe you can order some heated gear and have it delivered to to the previuos owners house in seattle to so your all set when ya get there.

Thanks for the welcome!

I've got all my gear ready to go. I'm going to look pretty funny going to the airport wearing most of it:laugh: but I know it'll be worth it when I'm staying warm AND dry on the ride.

So I'm assuming you'll be taking the southern route, down through Oregon & CA on I-5, and turn left towards Bakersfield, through AZ, NM? I'm seeing predictions of snow already in Colorado and parts further north. Doesn't make for good motorcycling.

:welcome: and congrats on the purchase.

Congrats on the purchase, welcome to the org and thanks for your service.
Sounds like a fun ride have fun and keep the rubber side down.

Gpmo

:welcome: Aboard and congrats! FYI, temps here in Seattle are now in the mid 40's and raining almost everyday. You might want to have a back up plan on picking up your bike. It's much colder in December and have a lot of black ice. Depending on the kind of winter we get, there may be some snow too.

:welcome:to the board and congrats on your purchase, i know you are ready to get off that boat now

I thought about having the bike shipped, but I don't trust any shippers with it. I always have the option of renting a UHaul once I'm up there, but where's the fun in that?! If the weather is too bad, that's what I'll do but I'm pretty set and excited about taking such a long road trip on my new bike.

Since I work on the ship for 4 months, I have 4 months off so I'm going to take my time on the trip. (I'm a civilian, but working on a USNS preposition ship)

Panda, I will definitely be going south through Cali. I'm going to try and stay out of the mountains and along the coast, maybe taking the PCH for as long as reasonable, then jump on I-5 and then blast east through the deserts

:welcome:aboard, and congrats. Becareful like everyone else has said, that's a bad time to be riding a bike.

Thanks for the welcome!
