OK My .02 The ICON helmets are something to be feared. You've got 99cents worth of injection molded plastic protecting your head... NOT A GOOD IDEA!!!!!! Combine this with Chinese mass market production and an emphasis on style over substance built to a price? You begging for a concussion...
Save your pennies and get a decent, high quality ARAI, Shoei, maybe even Soumy.
The rest of their gear is pretty decent, gloves look interesting and will do the job, The Armored vest is a joke but better than being naked, the knee armor will work but make sure your not very big. Their Leather seems to be decent, smells good, nice and heavy weight, otherwise their textile stuff is pretty chintzy but should work on the streets... Their riding gear is aimed at the street and that is a little refreshing for those of us who spend 99% of our time on the street.
Just get thee out of their price point helmet and into something that belongs on your head. The Plastic shell and cheep liners are a recipe for a bent head... Quiet is NOT a good reason to pick a helmet, fit and protection are.
That is what earplugs are for, and yeah, you should be wearing those too...

Rev, got a shoei and carbon axo rr6,both are over 500 bucks, tha axo over 600, I didnt buy the Icon, just took it for a test drive, and as stated, it was very quiet.I dont know for sure, but i think the Icon carries both DOT and Snell ratings,They dont just give those ratings away. My guess on the reason its much cheaper, is the cost of labor where ever it was produced.I havent owned anything by Icon, so I cant vouch for their reliability or longevity, simply like I said : The quietest helmet I've ever tried.Personally, I'm a firm believer in buying the very best protection I can,So I'll stick with Shoei, Arai, and my Axo as far as helmets,my axo has all the relevant american ratings as well as CE, and its carbon fiber!
