Car problems

Well, I fell like like an idiot. :banghead: I charged the battery today, put it back in and it started just fine. Im not sure what the deal was with it not working with jumper cables, i thought i hooked em up solid. So, gonna start it and let it run for bit over the next couple days and see how that goes. Depending on the relults of that, ill get a new battery or look for alternator issues/positive cable problems ect... Thanks again for the help:bowdown:

Dodge will start and run for 1-2 second before it dies if wrong key. We have a fleet and if you grab the wrong set and don't know then its obvious.

Ford I dunno about running but I know my neighbor had his battery, ecu, and some other things before realizing the chip fell out

And frog like I said if the vehicle didn't idle down like a load had been placed on it then it wasn't connected right. Sometimes it takes a little bit of work to get them to connect, which is why I wasn't suggesting pulling batt and such before this.

If charging a batt in the cold of new york now will burn it out wouldn't your vehicle need a batt every month or week since its constantly chargin? Just sayin.

Charging problem could be as simple as a bad connection. I've even had posts break loose and not notice it till screwing with it a couple times. It couldve corroded to a non start condition finally and that was the day. Dr. Pepper or a highly acidic soda can help clean them if your ever stuck somewhere.

Good job man. Sounded like the battery. Happens in cold sometimes, or an old battery. Will be the battery before the alternator. Also be careful, it may start ok for a few days and you think it's fine, then it will start not holding charge again. Dodgy batteries can be finicky.
