it was a quadzilla vs me on the 4poke.that was a test and tune day for me but call outs were made and even with less hp grandpa was chasing me up the hill. ive had all 3 quad racers. the 500 zilla is a beast when set up correctly but overall the 450 is better out the box bc the chassis is a much better design.
I remember my GSXR race bike spending lots of time on a dyno while the carbs were being fine tuned...if we raced on a track which had higher or lower elevation, there was no way to adjust the carbs in a hurry to get the bike spot on unlike what can be done today.
Five minute job for those who know what they are doing on a Mikuni carburetor on your old GSXR. Unscrew the top fixture by hand, move the jet needle up or down one or two or three notches depending on altitude by placing the circlip and you are back in business.
The challenge on the two strokes was carbon build-up on the exhaust baffles, due to oil in the fuel. That would actually change the A/F ratio. I can’t remember how many “professional tuners” I had to tell not to correct this by playing with the carbs. It meant removing the baffles and cleaning them with a blow torch, which would remove all the carbon.
Nothing you have to do on the Busa, or most modern vehicles. Your MAP sensor takes care of that for you.
