Not a journeyman, still an apprentice. 3rd year. You have friends in the trade?
Many!!!!! I used to be a helper, but not union,But I got to where I could do everything from rough in to top out to setting fixtures, I just coudnt make the money I needed at the time. I hate running cast iron and love running copper, I;m one of those guys that wipes his joints. Nothing like some super clean run copper and when you shoot the nitrogen to it, and it holds! Right?

I love your bike. Beautiful color, nice mods... especially the HMF highmounts.

Nothing like having it all shined up just to be covered by insulation. Very familier with copper though. I have ran a quite a bit and recently got my med gas liscence with my backflow liscence also. How long was you doing it?

I did it for a couple of years, I stayed in debt to my employer buying tools. I had a shid load of rigid aluminum pipe wrenches and cutters.I just recently got rid of all my plumbing tools as a matter of fact! I wasnt a journeyman, and was head over heals in debt and young and stupid. I love the trade, but to make it, you've got to be union and go through all the steps, I just didnt have the time.

That's something that I can say though. The union has been very good to me and I am fortunate to be a part of it.

If you can get your foot in the door (union) and you can afford to get the experience and time to be a certified journeyman employer, then my friend , you can just about write your own ticket. I've worked union before, love the stability and protection, but its a slow process. Are they letting you read prints and run a crew? I did all that crap, for helper pay while the master on the site got the credit.I just coudnt afford to put in my time, but I still like doing my own stuff around the house!

Yeah, I know what you are saying. It is a very good experience to be a part of. The pay, security, and all is worth it. I have pushed before, but don't really like it. I would rather be out there working then thumbing through paperwork and prints. Before getting in I was lucky to change a light bulb, now I am in the process of remoldeling the basement, and doing work outside. So I have learnt much more then plumbing or pipefitting, working around all trades.

Let's reel this thread back in boys...it's all about Carmen!!!

Looks nice...I think you need to head up my way and wash mine!
