Case mods for oiling.

Plenty of room on a dragbike lol, no gaudier than a turbo hung off the side. But I assume it goes to the pan, I just saw that on a image search.

I just like talking about stuff, learning stuff. I’m trying to get the trans jet out right now, it’s giving me issues.

Wait til I start exploring the ecu, wiring that mess and then mapping, trying to build boost on the 2step, all that nonsense. It’s like a big puzzle or LEGO set.

The same here. Thought I was getting an idea but that motor is mounted at about 40degree in the opposite direction than intended. Would like to see the oil pan and system. Looks like some engineering, bet I could learn from.

Yea I didn’t grind the mains, didn’t want to send it out to get line honed lol

They say u can block the piston and trans squirters completely on a dragbike but I just pinched the piston ones just in case, and I wana change the trans jet but haven’t got that figured out.

Why not turn the squirters around since the problem is lack of oil to mains

I have .0024 oil clearance for rods with black bearings. Below limit but out spec. That's set in stone, using micrometer and dial bore.
But adding bearing thickness doesn't.

Crank 1.4956 (actual)
Rod with black 1.4980. (actual)
= 0.0024
Black bearing thickness x2 = .1174 - .1178 (thickness by the book)

carrillo rod 1.6144 (actual)
Black x2 - .1174 - .1178
= 1.497 - 1.496 (this number should equal 1.4980)

Using the book to add thickness isnt correct. Ok but the different size bearing are so close, hundred thousand.
Only 9 ten thousands separate spec but 10 ten thousands outside spec is limit.

My math
1.6144 Rod ID
Minus -1.4956 Crank measurement
=.1188

yellow bearing x2=.1176 .1188-.1176=.0012
Brown x2=.1173 .1188-.1173=.0015
Black x2=.1173 .1188-.117=.0018
Green x2=.1167 .1188-.1167=.0021
am I missing something? Doing something wrong in the math?
I would put green bearings

Yes that adds up.
But the actual oil clearance is .0022
Clearance by book is .0018
Trying to find out where .0004 difference came from. If your numbers are correct. Hope/wish then I wouldn't need to change bearings. Black are perfect

Rods are better off on the Looser side To allow more oil in between

Mains Tighter to help get oil pressure up
Talked to rob bush Saturday at kings of grudge and called today. I would like to see about 18 or 20, but mike said he would leave 22. Thanks for your idea, I didnt add them up like that, it makes sense adding numbers, just trying to figure out why actual adds up different Tried to check bearings using caliper on the tips but the book numbers still didnt match. Maybe bearing flex, settling, pressure. I would like to think I was checking crank wrong or bearing but I done multiple times.

I dont have a problem fixing. Just trying to understand what happened

I have a set of digital calipers I use for clutch stack height and less invasive measurements.

I was going to ask how you are measuring
I ONLY use a Micrometer (CNC Machinist by trade)
and a BORE gauge for the rods/installed bearing sizes

Calipers are for carpenters

this is the bore gauge I use

All are fowler, that mitutoya is a little more than I wantes to pay. I not full time on this stuff. I watch a lot of videos on comparing expensive vs cheap tools also. And very disappointed how close to equal everthing is. But I do believe you get what you pay for and you got the best.

You dont use a caliper to check height on clutch? Your just messing. I watch enough abom79 to know machinist use calipers alot. He showed a 36" starrett caliper I watched yesterday. Inside joke, you silly machinist.

Not going to clog up your space anymore, will start a thread if needed. Really enjoyed the pictures. Thanks
