Caution: Buell Peg Mod Causes Comfort (and Pigeon Toe)

The drill should be the size of the shaft of the bolt without the threads.
You need something to cut off of the aluminum sides after the drill comes out.
Practice on a piece of wood.
You can drill and tap it fine and see if it is the right size.

well, 3/8" was too big, almost fit right over the lever stem. the next best thing I have without getting too small is 5/16", but seems a pain to get started...

Alright, I did it!

Pretty cool. It really was an all day learning experience for me.

Took one practice run on casting the aluminum stock to learn the skills/technique, then second take was good... not perfect, but good and functional.

Maybe when I have time on another rainy day (Ike), I'll make it better.

Thanks Mike!

I'll have to post some pictures and give a detailed account for anyone that is interested... definitely worth the time.

No problem brother!
It always looks harder before you start than after it is done.
The next thing you try will be easier, and so on.
Welcome aboard!

Thanks! Way to get started I suppose - maybe should have started with, "how do I change my oil?" - as daunting a task from what I hear.

BTW, I decided to spray the new lever down with a black plastic coating - should look really nice after 3-4 coats and it provides extra grip.

Will try to post some picks.

That looks great!
When I did mine I had to re-learn how to shift without my toe pointed inwards.
Looks like it solved your problem.
Good on ya!
