Chain Clean And Lube

How often should this be done? And I am guessing that I will need a rear stand right.

I do mine every 500 to 600 miles. A rear stand helps, but is not required. Make sure you let the chain dry before lubing it, or the lube will not do any good. Chain cleaners contain solvent and will breakdown the chain lube/wax.

I clean it with kerosene and a light brush.

edit: I have only cleaned mine once at about 2500 miles. I dont ride in the rain much so it dont get real gritty. But I am about to clean it again at 5200 miles.

Best thing I've found for cleaning the chain is MotoreX 611 chain cleaner. Stuff works wonderfully well. Their chain lub is not bad either.

I use DuPont Teflon Multi Purpose lube and clean it about ever 500-750 miles

+1 WD40 on a rag. I clean mine about every 500 to 600 miles, lube it after every ride. To clean the chain I do as the manual calls for and clean it with kerosene. I replaced my chain at 27K miles, but sprockets looked like new. I have 36K miles on the stock sprockets and they both show little or no wear.

Go ahead and get you a rear stand, it will make things so much easier. Otherwise you are rolling her all around the garage to clean the chain. I also use Kerosene to clean and then I use a spray on chain lube. If my chain sees a few miles in the rain, I will clean it regardless of miles.

I use the Motorex 611 chain cleaner and do it every 600 miles. It really does help to have a rear stand, makes it about a 25-30 minute job if you do.

WD-40 and Kerosene. Lube it with Dupont multi purpose chain lube.

rear stand for sure... otherwise, have your wife/girlfriend/boyfriend etc... follow you with chain spray while you roll that beast slow. Its faster if you get help and if you use spray if not hind stand!
