Chain Resting on Chain Guard?

Thanks, guys... I'll plan to go to motorcycle mechanic school after I complete my PhD, get my spiritual life back in order, save the world at work, etc.

Seriously, it'd be great to have some sort of training on bike mechanics over and above what little is taught at the MSF course.

Anyway, I've checked things according to what I have been taught and what was related here... bike's fine. Appreciate the replies. Glad I asked.

congrats mike....i think it was a good question myself. Got me thinking when was the last time i actually did a walk around...... So i for one appreciate it. By the way my chain sits on gaurd as well.

Some of these new guys with their smart answers, need to take a step back and realize that the Org. is a teaching and learning site.

Quote from another thread on 11/27 " I have four months' of relatively infrequent riding experience on the bike, so have been feeling her out slowly."

Either you have OCD or you have no business with a bike of this magnitude. You've put 60 miles on the bike in 4 months and now you're stroking because you can not determine if the chain adjustment is within specs. I don't want to sound like I'm beating on you but I think you have bitten off more than you want to chew and now you are looking for a reason to leave it on the kickstand.
so..if your gona be an :moon: why even post at all? it was a simple question..lets see who helps you next time...btw I noticed you have only been a member for a month with 16 posts..so does this mean we shouldn't pay any attention to you either? he has been here since july does that give him more seniority then you?

I don't think time here or post total affects my willingness to help somebody.
Many folks find this place thru google as I did and ask honest questions within first day or first few posts.
Doesn't make them any less desirable to me.
The attitude is what affects my willingness

Yeah, you're right. As you know, there's alot of good folks here, that's what makes this forum so good. I joined Civic forums last week looking for what I thought was basic information. I was installing a remote start on my wife's 07 Civic and I was asking if someone could please tell me where the tach signal wire was, it's color and pin location. 12 hrs later I said "anyone" and again 2 hrs later, just trying to keep new eyes on the thread because they don't stay in the new posts very long there.
I was answered finally by a high count post person(for that site)and told "1-Stop bumping the thread, 2- What cars have you installed these on before?" (Because I had indicated I had done these before and that wire was all I needed.) " And 3- I don't know the answer to your question"
:rofl:Seriously?! His signature had his lowering springs, wheels, air-filter, wing and fart can too! So I realized looking around that the majority of the forum seems to be that way too, big shock:laugh: I'm sure that their are some intellegent, polite folks on there too, just not very many.
I don't let things like that bother me, but I can see where the same type of bad attitude would drive some folks away.
I can see the argument of a Busa being a bad beginner's bike, but I've seen firsthand that some folks Can start on a big bike. These folks however are a small percentage. Anyone with a head about them who can physically handle a larger sportbike stands a chance. He seems to do that just fine. Either way, it's nice when you give folks a chance.
The originally post's did sound like he was very inexperienced...but then, the longshot:laugh: He's got a head on his shoulders. In yo fase!
I'm far from perfect, but it's nice to ask a civil question and get a civil answer.

I miss Owen:laugh:

agree, they are way to quick to jump on another who is just asking a harmless question, hey the question got others thinking...works for me..

For what it is worth, the lack of a-holes on this site when I joined was the number one reason I chose to purchase a Hayabusa over a liter bike. Lots of squids on the other sportbike sites, and I believed I could get more help and insight in general from GOOD folks here than folks on the other sites. Lots of kiddos on those other sites, and that really turned me off.

This community has something worth protecting, IMO. I wasn't expecting some of the responses I got. (Maybe I should get an auto mech degree, and an A&P license for those times when I rent/fly aircraft...) :cheerleader:

lol...i am fairly new here as well, though not new to bikes or busas at all. I still like to be respectful regardless if i have 15 years or 2 and 100000 posts or 1. i also choose this site after lurking for a bit to see the general demeanor. I thought it was a wonderful fit. So i joined.

I would rather you just save your own neck. Admit it or not, you are uncomfortable being on this bike's back and that's dangerous. Anyone who thinks i'm just being a turd needs to go read his posts from around 10-15 thru current. My question is which decision that you made was the rational one...Selling the 1st becuase of your close call and phobia or buying the second one 2 weeks later becuase you missed it on the weekend?
