Chain Slack

How much chain slack (play) are most people running with an extended swingarm? I have a +6 Arm and I still run what the manual tells you for stock believe it is 1" to 1 1/4". For some reason it seems kind of tight. Just trying to to get an idea what other people are running.

with extensions you want to run your chain a little tighter. when you accelerate the suspension actually squats more and shortens the length of pull a little. I run my 4 over turbo bike with 1/2 to 3/4 in. of play.

All depends on your suspension setup also, what you said is true, very true for a stock rear shock, because of this i just sent mine out to be revalved/rebuilt with a heavier spring set for my weight (270lbs) and to compensate for the 6 over I am.I will run it at the recommended slack setting when it comes back next week.

Revalving my stock shock is on my list of to-do's, but I think it can hold off a bit. I only weigh in at 175 pds, it should be ok for now. Just wanted to see what others was setting their chain tension to since mine just doesn't seem right at the stock setting.

with the stock shock and my chain pretty tight with bike on stand.when i get on and try and ride it,sounds like the chain is gonna come off because it loosens that much with my weight plus the undertail rubs (i have her slammed with fully adjustable lowering links) so the shock upgrade was a must do now for me

Guess I am going to have to check the tension again with me on the bike and see if it loosening up from the suspension compressing. I doubt my weight is compressing it that much though to actual loosen up the tension. I thought it was actually too tight maybe not.
