When it is all said and done, I think it will free up more horsepower than it will consume. Why? Because in an earlier post I mentioned how it was going through another guys "home built" reverse box. The shafts weren't straight and it robbed a claimed 23% of the horsepower that was being fed into it.

This new lenco reverse box doesn't take up half that amount of power, so although we are adding some rotating weight to the machine, we are freeing a lot of it up by going with a better reverser.

I will get a total weight on the pullies when they are back from hard anodizing, they are significantly lighter now that they are milled out.

The only way the 630 would have worked is if we went with the 630SHB-Z and that is just way too thick of a chain to run on the car.

I registered to see the pics and ask where in cali you are. That looks absolutely SICK. I feel your pain on the chain, I just put a EK 530ZZZ on my 2005 Short Sand Car (Busa with a Mr Turbo kit on 5lbs). I'm curious to see how yours works out. That looks trick...exspensive but trick!

At 5lbs, you should be fine with a 630SHB chain probably.

Glad I could inspire you to sign up. There aren't a lot of cars on here, but there are a few of us.

I am in southern california. It is kind of expensive...lol, but it is only money and the first one is always the most time consuming.

If this EK ZZZ doesn't last, then I'll probably step up to a 630. Where did you get the sprockets for the 630 from? Where in socal are you? I'm in Vista (20 min north of SD). I was going to go to ocotillo this weekend but I don't feel like dealing with the 100degree heat so I'm going to pass probably until next season.

I am over by Pismo Beach a little.

I ran sprocket specialists sprockets for awhile, but I was eating them up after each day. I would recommend at least getting them hard anodized. Most companies wont cut custom sprockets in steel though, just aluminum.

I snapped a ZZZ while my bike was on the dyno....that sucks about you wearing out the stronger chain but i guess its due to the non oring design and then you riding in the sand. Hope you get it figured out

I don't think it has anything to do with the o-ring vs. non-ring situation since the chains were giving out after just a few hours. Just a case of overpowering a chain. You have to remember a 425rwhp car is going to have a lot more torque applied to the chain due to two heavy paddle tires, the additional traction, and then you also have to figure in the weight of the car.
