ok, rather than go with a low compression turbo build, i thought perhaps a 1397 at around 13:1 compression might be the way to go, with a 40 hit when i decide it's time to get OUT. so who's gone big bore here already? what kind of hidden costs am i looking at, different starter, two batteries, two fans, etc.

upgrades to the starting system and cooling system are the only "hidden" expenses. Just get a secondary battery and the auto 24v start to cure any starting issues.

Cooling system issues were more common with the Gen1. The solution then was to add a secondary fan (which the Gen2 already has), lower temp fan switch, and if needed a higher pressure rad cap. For a Gen2, I would just run things as is and see how things go.
