Chatterbox is great for two up. So so for bike to bike communications.
I have used it to call lead rider about bikes down, lost members in the group. I use it to listen to music and talk to the wife on the back. You can also use one of the motorola walkie talkies to talk to a chatter box. You'll have to find the frequencies that match.
Pluses.
- Convenient
- small package
- Support is pretty good
- cost is decent
- frequency sync with talkbout (motorola)
-- good for communication with cars and other people on the same frequency
- you don't have to buy a radio like an autocome
Minuses
- ##### to put the headsets on some helmets (probably the same for other companies
- Sound quality sucks
- unit hangs off the helmet
-- you will have tons of wires if you try to integrate a cell phone, GPS, ipod etc. this hanging off your helmet
-battery time
-you can't see the damn screen to see what channel you are on
-- or change talk groups easily
-hard wiring power to the bike tethers you to the bike also
- riding with a backpack or some leathers your unit will sometimes get tangled
- it adds alot of weight to the side of your helmet.
Even with the cost. next unit will probably be an Autocom style or something that will fit in a tank bag and have one or two wires for power and headset.
For your needs you might want to spend the money for an autocom or JRX unit. You can buy the extras down the road to use if you need it. Such as GPS connectors, 2 way radio, etc.
