Chatterbox Helmet Communications

can you communicate between the different brands?

Now that is an excellent question! But I do not know the answer. I do know that the lower channels of the Chatter Box works with 2-way radios. It allows you to communicate with people in a support vehicle. But it only works on the lower channels. I think its cause they are FM or something like that.

I have the Scala Rider Q2, the audio is superb. The problem we all know is the limited range and compatibility issue. There are so many people using FRS/GMRS.

My plan is to use the Kenwood GMRS radio linked to my Cardo using bluetooth, with a bluetooth push to talk button.
My problem is the Kenwood radio, as far as I can tell is will only operate in GMRS and not FRS which will limit me to that group of riders.

The Kenwood is the only radio (so far) I have found which is compatible with a bluetooth dongle. Also the Kenwood gets excellent reviews on range and clarity. It is the only one Autocom recommends/sells.

GMRS and FRS share channels 1-7. You'll be able to communicate with 'em ;)

Just go with chatterbox. Easy to use and plenty of parts are available like battery packs and of course the helmet clips. They may seem like they'll get in the way mounted on the helmet but you soon realize that it doesn't. The wifey was a first time rider two years ago and it was the best thing I ever bought for the both of us... Now I can yell at her and if she doesn't respond then I know she's being an azzhat, LoL...

I have the more basic version of the chatter box pretty unhappy with their performance so far lots of static an broken up communication. Range for us is under a 1/4 mile in the open road.

I got me the x1 Bluetooth. The helmet click broke while I was installing it. I didnt put much pressure at all, and I'm actually glad it broke then, otherwise it would have been my x1 flying off while riding. I put it in my tank bag but will think of a way to mount in front of me for controls. I didnt expect it to be that BIG. The sound quality is OK, works great with MP3 via direct connect or bluetooth, also connects well with phone. I havent tried connecting with other riders. I communicate with my passengers using VOX, but the sensitivity level is kinda annoying as any breeze of wind the slips in activates VOX. My helmet is very quiet yet still VOX sensitivity sucks unless im driving really slow. PTT works better. All in all it is ok, I havent used anything else to compare.
