Chatterbox wire routing Help

I whipped out the chatterbox today so me and the lady could talk while we rode together. As we were getting everything together, I realized I have to many wires running around us. I have 4 wires running to my chatterbox thats connected to my helmet (2 head sets, 2 push to talk buttons). I have my push to talk on my hand bars with the wire running up my jacket, she has her head set and push to talk running down her jacket and back up to my head set. Is there a way to reduce the amount of wires, maybe a way to go wireless?

Does anyone else ride double that might have a better way to run these wires?

Trade the Chatterbox in for an Autocom system...you won't regret it. One cable to each helmet. VOX is used for Rider <-> Passenger communication. PTT switch for bike-to-bike stays mounted on the left grip. Audio in, Phone communications, GPS integration, Radar detector integration...lots of options.

I'll have to look into this. Says it can talk to other frs channels, would I still be able to talk to other chatterbox users then? Most of the riders around here use chatterbox. *starts reading info*

Yes, the Autocom can talk to FRS...as long as the two-way radio you provide supports FRS.

Out of the box, the Autocom system, along with two headsets will allow you to talk via VOX between the rider and passenger. Depending on the model, there are additional inputs for other audio devices. I have a Motorola GMRS/FRS radio that I use for bike-to-bike communications. Most Chatterbox models support the FRS frequencies and some also support GMRS. You can connect your cell phone via cable or an optional Bluetooth adapter and receive/place calls while riding. The noise-reduction circuitry in the Autocom is phenomenal; you can have a conversation at 80 mph and if the other party doesn't know that you're on a bike, they would have no idea... You can connect your GPS so you can hear the prompts, etc.

for some pics of the unit. The pics show the Active-Plus, but I've since upgraded to the Super Pro AVi. You can see the PTT switch on the left bar, the radio in the trunk, GPS, etc. I now have an iPhone and it connects via Bluetooth to the Zumo (GPS) and the GPS is connected to the Autocom via Bluetooth... I can control everything from the Zumo. (place calls, see who's calling, etc.) My Zumo is also XM radio, MP3 player - so I usually have no shortage of tunes while riding. My Son loves going for rides. When we talk, the music volume is automatically lowered and then gradually returns to volume when we're done talking. Same with a phone call - the music will mute so you can take the call...then it returns.

I would get a hold of Scar and some of the other SoCal hoons. I know a lot of them use the Chatterbox equipment.

My friend gave me the idea that maybe I should buy a cheap used one for sale so my co-pilot can use it without all the wires. Might look into that.

Mount the Chatterbox on a tech mount to your steering stem, they make stem mounts, that way you only have one wire going to your helmet. I love my chatterbox, clear as a bell works for up to 5 miles, I have the bluetooth model, have my i-pod touch going to it along with cell phone, people can here me just fine... Love chatterbox:thumbsup:
