CHECK YOUR HEAD!

EXCLR8 Thanks for the tip on helmets,Did the girl run a stop sign or where both of you not paying attention.Like I said you got to ride like everyone out there is trying to kill you.And the helmet I wear is not cheap it's heavier and thicker than the one's most Harley riders wear,I still have my full face helmets but since this is America I wear what feels comfortable to me and I ride everyday rain or shine, not on the weekends only.My 82 Mazda RX-7 has 50k miles on it has been seating in my car port.People always ask me in the winter time why I ride my bikes and do I own a car,I tell them I love motorcycles and will ride them till I die.

Tried a Arai RX7, Quantum, and Shoei XSP at the dealer cause I had to give my Shoei X9
to my wife. I bought the Shoei XSP because it had a bigger visor opening, i.e. it gave me better peripheral vision, other than that either helmets are excellent products.

i use a shoei RFR two reasons loved the graphics high quality oh and i also seem to have a large head couldnt get an AGV to fit even xxl!
but have used ARAI and the also are an excellent helmet

I wore Shoei X-8 & X-9
bought the Arai Raptor in blk/gry/orange
fits my head better than the Shoei
visor changes fast and easy
I changed to get the better fit

Have aria rapture in white and still like my simpson bandit but aria is a much better helmet. You get what you pay for in helmets.

I have an Arai Quantum-E in white. The other choice as far as I am concerned is an RX-7 but you can't close all of the vents. Not a good thing in Pennsylvania USA fall/ spring riding. Racers like the RX-7. Roadies like me like the Quantum. Which is the same helmet with fewer vents. White is the color to have for safety. If you remember high school physics, white reflects all colors of light. A little eye physiology here, the rod sensors (night vision) in the eye do not sense color, just black and white. Therefore plain white makes sense to me. But you have to admire some of the cool graphics out there. No matter what you choose, get it off the internet from "The Helmet Shop" for $100 cheaper than in your local speed shop.

I have and normally use a Racing Red Arai Rx7. It's a great helmet with excellent ventilation. I also have a White Shoei XSP this is also a great helmet. I like the Shoei for the ease of changing the visor (doesn't get any easier than this) Both helmets have removable liners so that they can be washed when the smell starts to spoil the ride. One advantage to the Arai is that you can order different thickness cheek and top pads to make the helmet fit perfectly.

I wear those small bennie helmets like the Harley riders wear, full goggles"ski type the best, full face mask black, cloth or wetsuit material.Don't like helmets but have to wear it in California.Talk about living life on the edge.Had couple of my friend die using full face helmet,it didn't save them when the car turned left in front of them.Crashed twice with this little helmet once on my 89Gxsr11 and this year on my wifes 94HD,the only thing that saved my body was my gym bag hit the ground first and I landed on it,had full jacket and pants and HiTech Swatlight Hitop boots on.The boots saved my foot on both crashs and I swear by them.Anyone talking Airbag for bikes"gym bag"

Cisco

I in 91 I was hit form the side by a girl doing 45 MPH. She hit me square T-bone. Well the brain bucket saved me I was thrown and hit the curve with my head. It put a one inch wide split in my helmet. Glad it was not my head, I would never got to enjoy my Busa. HA I only use the best helmet I can afford. I wear a RX7. Got a cheap head, wear a cheap helmet.

EXCLR8 and Cisco both have good points. A good helmet is a good idea, but your eyes are the best protection you can ever have, better than any helmet by far. I use both. Keep your head on a swivel.

The girl that hit me ran a light. I looked left just in time to see the front of her car about 3-4 feet away. The intersection was a low visibility. Because I am a walking helment Ad I feel I have to put my 2 c in. I believe that all should use or not use a helment as they see fit. Just hope if some one chooses not to use a helment, they have good insurance.
