Checking oil on 2023 Hayabusa

I have a couple quick questions regarding checking the oil on my new 2023 Hayabusa I bought a few weeks ago. The bike has been in my shed for the past few weeks because I haven't registered it yet and the weather hasn't cooperated so today I took it for a quick spin. Here's my questions:

I rode the bike a couple miles and when I turned the engine off the check oil light came on. Is this normal?

How much oil should I see in the sight glass?

I'm not home so I can't crack open the owners manual.

Thanks

Oil light will come on if the bike is not running and the key is on.

What I do is put the bike on the side stand and walk around to the oil window side then gently pull the bike towards myself until it's level. the sight glass has two lines on it-an upper and lower line.....

Thanks I suspected the oil light would come on when the key is on but the engine wasn't running but since this is my first Hayabusa I just wanted to be certain.

There have been issues/concerns of members here that have found the oil level to be low when they picked up there new Busa, so definitely need to check.
Thanks for this tip, does the bike come from the factory with oil or is it added at the dealership once the bike has been delivered? How is it possible a bike is delivered to the customer low on oil?

You are correct, I bought my 2022 Busa brand new took it home and started checking the bike over and the oil level was barely in the lower part of the window so I went and bought a quart of Ecstar 10W40 semi synthetic because that’s what 2 different dealerships told me it comes with and I topped it off but it didn’t take the whole quart.

I just bought my 2023 ZX14R brand new and the oil level was right in the middle of the oil.

I would just guess they don't run it then top it off using the sightglass. Someone else suggested that during the break-in, Suzuki may want it lower on oil for some engine internal reason that I can't remember. Which could be possible.

Mine was at the bottom of the sight glass when I picked it up. Made them add some while I watched before I took it home. All the tips above are spot on, but most importantly you have to hold the bike level.

It is not a "check oil light."

I can't imagine it's ever good to run any engine while the oil level is low?

Oil filled to lower line in the site glass
3.25 quarts
Oil filled to middle line
3.5 qts
Oil filled to top line
3.75 qts
Site glass is full at 4 qts
Running the engine between 3.25 and 4 quarts is all safe, but I personally prefer 3.75
The more oil you have the more oil pressure that you have, and the larger amount of oil will stay out of the engine in the oil cooler slightly longer, so the oil temperature can drop slightly more.
Many people have and do run with 4 quarts too, and have no problems.
Personally, 4 quarts can potentially get foamed from crank windage, especially flicking left to right.
I have also seen neglected bikes oil windows get stained by oil being left in too long, and then it can be difficult to see the level
At 3.75 qts, you can always see empty window at the top, and still have more oil in the system than needed.
With the bike upright, any oil in the window is a safe amount, but err on the side of caution.

Good info except the part about having more oil pressure with more oil.

Found the comment, but I don't have the source, sorry. I have no idea whether this is mechanically valid or not, but this guy might know a lot more than I do (but he also said he was just speculating):
Why Suzuki puts oil on the add mark is ...any more oil may be too much and flood the cylinder walls and can cause ring skipping or slow seating during break-in.
