China Fairings?

The fairings from bliss-star-express came in today. The tank cover has a 6" long crack. Some of the paint has blistered and some scratches. This is all based on what my GF has told me. I'll snap some photos tonight and post.

Given the nice fairings I saw posted on this thread, and the lack of negative comments on bliss-star-express's feedback page, I was expecting better :( Hopefully they will work to fix this.

My gf made it sound worse than it actually was... the kit looks pretty sharp, but there are three issues (just from looking at the kit):

1. The gas tank has a crack down the left side:

2. The left fairing has the "R" and "X" letters coming out of the paint:

(scroll over to the right to see the closeup)

3. The front fender has a paint blemish from someone touching it before it had dried:

I still don't know how well any of this fits on the bike, but the undamaged parts look fantastic:

Keep us informed on what you end up doing and the fit. Pics are a must when or if you install them.

I contacted the seller about the three items. They ignored the last two (letters coming off and the smudged paint on the fender) and said they'd replace the gas tank cover. They also wanted more pics to show the manufacturer of the part so they could make a better tank cover. I sent them my shipping address, and that's where we are at.

Tonight I'll start to install the parts. If all fits, and they replace the tank cover, it should be pretty good. I need to give everything a wash and a coat of wax before I can get a good idea on the quality of the paint. I have seen some minor imperfections here and there, but nothing that was a deal killer.

The letters that are coming off, I can try to glue on, or just cut off. I'm not sure yet which approach to take.

I just ordered a set from them a couple of weeks ago, keep us informed because I will like to know how they hadle your situation so I know what to expect if I have any issues with the fairings when I receive them

Wow.. Thanks for the pics.. When I got my busa and she was already slid on her side, the first thing I wanted was some plastics. The Corona set at that. But I kept hearing such bad fitmit problems, that I finally opted against it and decided I'd get her painted instead. But those look great.

As far as the letters go, I'd probably not cut them, and find someone that can fold it and re-clear the damaged clean (and over the letters).. Should be quick and easy and if you have a friend that paints, probably can do it for a beer.

I would super glue them down, then get some touchup clear at the autoparts store. After it dries you can wet sand then compound it. If you have a good friend that paints I'd go with the above suggestion.

I got the tail section on tonight. It took me longer than I would have liked... the tailights were a ***** to get in. Everything eventually fit without modification. It appears that it's 98-99% accurate copy, based on the tail section alone. I guess I'll find out tomorrow when I try the nose and fairings.

The only issue I have is that the hump that came with the kit doesn't have the cutouts for grab bars. I have a nice aftermarket set that I use to steady the bike when I put it up on a rear stand... so for now I'll use the red oem hump till I figure out what to do.

The rear hump does not come with a cutout for the grab bar from the factory, most people do the cutout themselfs. Just get a dremel and cutout the slot for the grab bar.

ah, good to know! I'm the second owner of this bike, so far as I knew, it came that way from factory :)

I got word back from seller. He wanted multiple photos of the gas tank cover so they could make a replacement with the stickers in the exact same positions so it would match the fairings. They're making the replacement now for me.

Overall I would recommend them again to anyone buying. But I'd hold that recommendation till I see the condition of the replacement tank.

Tonight I'll try doing the nose and side fairings... pics to come.

nose fit very well. The only issue I had was the blinkers... the oem screws wouldn't go in all the way, so I used spacers to take up the slack.

Tomorrow I'll finish the install and get final photos with my thoughts of fit and finish. I found the replacement plastic part for the oil cooler shroud was thinner than the OEM. Since it has 4 supports for the side fairings, I opted to retain the oem part as a thinner softer plastic part won't hold much weight or have much support.

My roommate got his fairings from china as well, off ebay for 500. We had some fitament issues so we contacted the seller. They refunded him 125 bucks. It looked good for the price he payed for sure.................. I think your fairings are sick!!! post up a pic when your done.

I am really liking it so far. Keep the pics coming!

They LOOK good, the paint is mostly good, but given that some parts have much softer plastic than the OEM, I have to wonder about longevity. The nose is close, but I can tell it's not exactly the same thickness with the same rigidity... if I had to guess, I'd say in a drop where the OEM would just scratch, there's a chance the knockoff fairings will crack or splinter. But that's just a guess.

With that said, given the price, even if the plastics only lasted 2 years, that isn't so terrible either.
