China - propaganda or somewhat true?

Not at all isolating our markets. If you look at Boeing, the build with parts from just about everywhere. The key is a fair level playing field.

China has the risk of mass local rejection towards moving away from a Marksist world.
True, but China has been moving along at their own pace for thousands of years and they evolve, oppress, whatever is necessary to keep moving along on their snails pace development. Will be interesting how the materialistic orientation of a market economy mates with communism though. My guess is they will just move to another form of government. I talked to some Chinese architects and they said something very interesting: "Chinese see governance as a necessary way to keep the trains on time, Americans see it as a religion." I think their biggest problem is that the young don't want to progress so slowly.

I think globalism is globalism, even if it's just half the globe. We are going to have to build tighter alliances with like countries, not break friendships that have made the US rich and powerful. I think the colonial mentality of one power at the top is not going to work.

Hi. That is what I fear. I kind of know that they will take over. It just the way the world works. But what can we do?

China has 1.439 trillion people, we have 331 billion. That's approximately 4.3 times the size of the US. That's also about 1/8 of the world's population. 4.463 trillion of the world's population is Asian. That's like 57% of the population. We have been fortunate to have had a jump start on the world as far as industrialization. We were the lone western power not destroyed in WWII. How are you going to stop 1.4 trillion people?

It was dumb to pull out of the TPP because it at least kept us in the loop. The Asian world can do without the west. They can re-engineer everything we have and steal what they can't figure out. We are going to have to re-orient ourselves as we are simply not the big dog in the world anymore. It's foolish to think we can hold the Chinese back, one look at the numbers will tell you we are desperately trying to control things as an extreme minority (history says that doesn't work).

It is the natural progression of a materialistic economy to shed jobs. As technology progresses machines will replace people, so jobs moving to lower cost labor is a temporary adjustment in the world economy. Next there will simply be no jobs. The question then will be who will buy anything?

If we isolate ourselves, we will simply grow more and more irrelevant - and pretty quickly. Your children will be ok but your grandchildren not so much. According to many economist, the Asian world will swamp us in as little as 30 years.

So peeps, we have been dealt a pretty bad hand here. I just can't see approaching this as the big bad Americans working. Trying to reach a balanced position is best done while we have some power. I just don't see the adversarial working for long. Already Trumps direction has shown the futility of being aggressive. Our trade deficit has gone up, not down. China simple tells us what we want to hear and then they do what they want anyway. They know they are going to win, and if nothing else the Chinese are eternally patient.

China has 1.398 billion and the US has 329 million....BTW.....

The earth has a population of 7.6 billion people.

If the USA went to war with China and China alone, the US would dominate them on the battlefront.

Hard to even imagine that.
Do we just sit back and let that happen?
The US is the global world power and has been since the Second World War ended. English is a global language, the Dollar is the global currency, American music dominates the world of music, our military is everywhere, our film industry dominates, we dominate cyber space, we dominate global space, we dominate IT software etc., etc.

How many of us are willing to teach our grandchildren Mandarin and give all of that away?

Some independents may, but I sure don’t know a single Republican who would.

The Democrats? I don’t see much they have contributed other than causing damage in the past 3 3/4” years.

Hi Why are most of the Democrats do as I say to us and then they do as they want. Why do they all get rich while in office? Trump has lost money. Harris' bail out the peaceful protesters fund just bailed out a PEACEFUL PROTESTER who raped an 8 yr girl! He really belongs back on the street. I hope that was just a booboo.

Thats silly. You act like the post WWII world is still where we are. War is obsolete. The loss either China, Russia or the US would make almost any armed conflict not survivable. Saber rattling is a caveman strategy. China is very advanced in programming in areas like AI. This is very much a threat for us. I was talking to a Ford dealer who said what are they talking about stopping globalism? That ship sailed in 1947!

This is now a big brain problem people. I haven't heard a solution I totally buy into yet. But whatever it is it won't be unilateral.

Besides the fact that I think a war may solve our overpopulation problem and may either destroy or rescue the planet (the Georgia guidestones an interesting google) who spoke about war? Not me?

The way we win is with superior brain power, innovation, a nation undivided working towards a common goal and freedom as well opportunities for all. That means we have to solve our partisan politics real fast. It also means even if we do not favor a president, we should not obstruct progress towards a goal to score political points.

Ultimately what I believe will happen is the more China’s domestic consumption increases, the more pressure there will be within the country towards changing to a democracy. If that is not allowed, they will have to cope with a revolution. Once they have achieved that success, we will not see the currency disparity we see now and economics will be much more of a fair and level playing field, creating an opportunity globally for all.

So I totally agree with all of that. What I don't see is how Trump figures in that. I was not so happy with Biden but he beat back the socialists and will stabilize things so the Republicans can get their act together over the next 4 years. Hopefully we can then have a more rational debate over the direction of the country. Either way it will be hard for Republicans to manage the far right and the Democrats to manage the far left.

This is how he figures into this.
Here is a link, it is a bit old, but Trump is the first President who seriously confronted China’s unfair trade. And he had no support from the Dems, only criticism.

The problem with Trump is he is rough around the edges, he speaks his mind without thinking, calls a spade a freakin spade and he his brutal against anyone who does not support him or his views.

Many cannot live with that approach, but actually being a Viking has had quite a bit of success. Perhaps we needed that for a while, pity the virus came along to spoil the party.

I had a Manager once who could fix a broken factory with 700 employees in six months. About 30% of the staff would leave, or be fired, some would hate him some loved him. After six months the factory would have record output, but it will be time to give him a new assignment, otherwise we lose to many people. His approach was pretty much that of a Viking, very similar to Trump.
