long story short: a friend of a friend was doing some tuning on my 06 Busa LE. Well he went out for a night and didnt come home, car accident. Now the bike will only run if I have the choke on all the way. As soon as I take the choke off it dies.

Anyone able to point me in the right direction?

Mods:
No PAIR
Big air box mod (floor cut out)
K&N Filter
Micron 4-2-1 (can cleared out, straight through)
PCIII

I am not sure what he was doing or where he was going with it...Im stuck!
Please...anyone???!!

:banghead:Thanks, JD.:please:

Don't you need a carb to use a choke?

Try turning up the idle.

Yes, your bike has an idle advance, not a choke. Little screw barely visible under the right lower side of the gas tank. Sometimes it backs out of adjustment.

really need a bit more info... but an idle adjustment would certainly be the first thing on the list.. (fast idle adjustment has basically NOTHING to do with how the bike runs, just if it will idle)

Does it run when you open the throttle? and just "what" was he tuning? hanging parts on it? taking stuff off? PC3? flashing the ECU?

Really need an idea of just what he was doing..

now should we crack jokes about the bike "choking up" over your pals crash? (what happened to him?)

adjusted fast idle and she runs with no problem now.
He wasnt adding or taking stuff off...just flashing ECU and doing a fine tune on the PC3...I believe he had the ECU flashed and was getting ready to do the PC3 programming/mapping. There is really no way I can find out what was/wasnt done...he was doing it on the side and only had it for 2 days...but I know he wasnt done yet. In his shop the seat was off and USB plugged into PC3...his laptop is PW protected and cant get into it to see if he had used the PC3 software...

She just feels funny now...like she is running rich, like maybe no PC3 mapping done?
good amounts of back fire on decel...real loppy sound when idel (like a stroker motor) not the smooth sound it should be.

He was on his way home and a 19 yr old high on No Dust (canned air) ran a stop sign doing 90mph t-boned him...he dies and the 19 yr old walks away...right into jail though.

If he was tuning with the PC my suggestion would be to visit Dynojets site and down load the Zero Map or find a map that was made for a bike that has the mods pretty close to yours and load that up in the PC and see if that resolves your issue

Alright I have the software on my laptop now and have downloaded all maps from Dynojets web site.

Just a couple questions: When it says "Zero Map" what does that mean...I would guess the Micron map (M312-006) was the original map on the unit. With myself having no idea on tuning, would I be better off uploading the "Zero Map" or the "Micron Full System" map with the mods I have listed?

Im in Iowa, the Des Moines area. Not sure if there is anyone from the area or a well known shop in the area. Ive only been here for a few months now.

Im gonna try and uploading the maps on Sunday and see what one works...seems straight fwd from what Ive read so far...just not going to tweak anything on the maps til I can read some more (maybe...)

also I may have a throttle issue from what I read...will reset positions while doing map too.

I know its complex but, where can I gather info on tuning with the PC3 and the ins/outs of the PC?

I'm sure someone here will be able to help you with that. You may want to ask someone to take a look at your flashed ECU. I haven't heard of anybody flashing an ECU and then installing/running a PC. Flashing the ECU should eliminate the need for a PC. Sorry not trying to add to your problems but just wanted to make sure you aren't chasing your tail. :beerchug:

i hate how most "a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend " was working or riding my bike and then...threads end......???

Might be a long shot, but check for any unhooked or split vaccum lines. It's probably going to be something on the pc side, but it never hurts to look.

Sounds to me as though this is probably a bit over your head so I would just get the bike to another shop with someone that knows the routine.. (pretty basic stuff you have going)

Why do we always have to point out that choke is incorrect when it is a perfectly apt description... notice in the manual excerpt it actually says "choke lever".

You say tomato I say choke:laugh:
