Still, I'm constantly surprised by how many people have helmet visors and windscreens which are scratched to he!! by their cleaning methods.  Sad, really.  It's not rocket science, yeah, but you'd think it is sometimes!!!

Rock dings, on the other hand, there isn't much you can do about that.

I hear ya.  

At home, I use a hand towel from my bathroom (thick soft cotton), wet 1 side, wife guts all off, dry with other side.

If bad when out riding...at gas station I take the window cleaner between pumps, wipe it off with the sponge side and squeegee it with the squeegee side.  NO PAPER TOWELS ON ANYTHING!!  Except your HANDS!
