Cleaning und countershaft cover

Actually got 2 questions.

1. How hard is it to get the countershaft sprocket cover off ? I know there is a ton of crap in there as I see it starting to run down my kickstand. (old chain lube) I want to clean it out.

2. I am ready to change my first front tire. Do I have to take the front fender off ? and does a front racing stand give me enough clearance to get the wheel out ?

Thanks in advance,
Dave

Easy, just remove the bolts (8mm head I believe) and it will pull off. You may need to use a little force (rocking back-and-forth) to pull it off. Your Clutch push rod will also be there, either attached to the slave cylinder or in the side of the motor; would be a good time to grease it up when reassembling.

You don't have to take it off if you can get the front raised high enough. I just need to loosen it.

With my front stand (fork type), there isn't enough clearance to get the tire/wheel out, so I just remove the 3 'frankenstein bolts' holding the fender on. The fender now has enough travel (up, down, pivot) so I can get the wheel out.
