As long as the justice system in that country isn't sloppy and biased as ours is, I have no problem with it. Do it publicly and swiftly and it provides an effective deterrent. That's the way it works over there.
Amnesty International is a good group with its heart in the right place, but they are off base on this.
And for all you folks that think our justice system is close enough to perfect that we should institute something like this, wake the hell up. Look how many convicted criminals have been released in the last ten years due to DNA evidence proving it impossible for them to have committed the crime of which they were convicted. How many truly innocent people do you think have been put to death in this country? Until skin color and economic status are not impediments within the system, we should be ashamed of ourselves for even considering the death penalty.
