Trying to find a way to leave the line more effectively...Current stock set up has been very good to me but I'm loosing time in 1st because the clutch has locked and the rear spins...

Now i am by now means an expert nor could i even imagine driving a 200+ hp busa, and i'm sure someones gonna come and call me a dumbas but did suzuki change the clutch in 2002 or 2003 because i just added a new clutch ring to my bike and it shifts great. and its easier to up shift also and it doenst have that clanking noise. Now from what i hear the stock clutch is good to 400 hp so just thrwing the two washers and clutch plate in should help out a little. Best of all the mod was only 37 buks and took bout 2 hrs. So you may want to try that. Remeber im no pro so it could be something else. But if Suzuki didnt change out the clutch til 03 and you want to try it let me know and i can give you the part numbers of the stuff you need and a little walkthrough...if not than i just took a whole lot of time to say nothing at all.

You may be right on target...Ran across a thread that talked about the Carpenter "Clutch Mod Ring"...Is this what you are referring to???If it's the same or close go ahead and post the info...Also have you had your bike to the track since doing this mod???If so were the launches smoother???My problem is that the clutch is engaging so quickly that I'm spinning at the top of 1st gear...Wasting time...Thanks...

Im in NC now but when i get home ill post. What the mod did was make it a hell of a lot easier to shift gears since i've had it installed i havent missed a 1st to 2nd shift yet. It also stops the clunking noise. I havent been to the track though becasue its closed but ill post up when i get back.

thats the link to the convo i had with JC but ill get the part numbers for ya.

Take a look at the Billet clutch setup at APE. It runs like a lock up and spring. I am most likely going to one in the Spring. For now I am going with stronger springs because bike is going South soon. I did not like the idea of a lock up on the turbo but APE (and some others) have multistage lock ups that may fit the bill.

Ninja Eater...It's about damn time you pushed yourself away from the Thanksgiving leftovers...I've been waiting on you for a couple of days to chime in...I really don't want to do a costly mod and don't know enough about the 2 stage lock up...Kevin sells the 2 stage and recommended it...He also advised to stay away from a multi stage because of the adjustment issue...What about this ring and/or the welded clutch cam mod???

Hey man i cant seem to find the part numbers i think the wifes been in my stash but ill keep looking. JC gave me the numbers so he might still have them but ill keep looking. Hey Ninja what did you think about my suggestion???

I think you will need as I will eventually a Billet clutch hub. You can try as I am this winter Yamaha R1 Springs, cut 1/4 inch of the top. They will be stronger then heavy Busa springs. You should be good with your setup HP. I am going to put them in for South Fl. and then if I have to change to a Lockup in Spring.

I'm gonna go with the clutch ring...Found it at Motorcycle Performance Specialties item #1-0286...Just not ready to venture into the 2 stage and multi stage clutches...I believe this will do the trick for me...Thanks... 5:

I am using the Carpenter Racing clutch cushion kit which consists of a 1/2 cut clutch plate, clutch ring, and cushion ring.

In addition, I used Suncoast HD clutch springs but Dennis (Motorhead) has a set as well that have supported over 500HP.

Finally, I use a clutch slave support (a must with HD springs) and a stainless steel clutch line.

This combo has been rock solid for me and slippage is minimal

Yeah...I had checked that out already...It just appears to me to be no more than a weld of the two piece stock...I'm going to go ahead and try the ring if I'm not satisfied I will more than likely go with the MTC 2 Stage...

ceicil.... I've heard if you run the solid hub your clutch will slip badly... just a friendly warning you might want to check into.

There is no way around it eventually as you go higher and higher you will need a lock up or a stage lockup. I am still avoiding using one and have very very very stiff springs and a clutch brace.

Haven't had the ring installed yet to cold and busy...Hope to get it done soon...
