Mine is a 05 and has the exact same rattle behavior that you mentioned. It has done it from the first mile. I never gave it much of a thought because I always thought it was normal.

It probably is normal, some seem to make more noise than others from what I can gather.  It's just that these guys have put an element of doubt in my mind, so I just thought I'd check it out.  I would not worry about that much...

But just as a precaution and going to whip off the cover and have a look and see if there's anything not right in their.

If I find anything wrong, I will post up on this tread...... for anybody who may be experienced the same problem so they can sort it out...

Okay people............. just to put an end to one of these threads about noisy clutches........ if you read through this thread. You'll see mentioned in their that I was going to get the clutch stripped and checked out....

Okay, well that's been done................... and I am happy to report............. that there was a whole lot of nothing wrong in their..............

So for anybody wondering about the noise in the clutch............. you can take it from me, who has gone to the expense of having it stripped and checked...........

That there is absolutely nothing wrong whatsoever........... just noisy clutch..

enough said end of.........

My 2001 busa has what I call a really bad clutch rattle last oil change found a little bit of metal in the oil what causes the rattle clutch plates or a bearing ???

There was a recall for clutch pressure plate bolt torque. They were coming loose and touching the inside of the clutch cover. Easy fix. I never re-torqued mine and they are quiet. I think I remember a clacking down there but it seemed to go away. I will check when I change clutch plates some day.

My 09 rattled from day 1. At around 40k miles I pulled the cover and the spring bolts were loose. There was a recall that did not get done at the dealer. 09 purchased in 2010 nd I ASSumed there recall had been done and the grumble rattle sound was normal. Once the problem was corrected the grumbling sound went away. Point is if you have doubt check it. If a bolt hits the inside of the cover it can cause quite a bit of damage.
