Clutch rattle

HOWYA all.
This may seem like a silly question.
As I always thought tha busa had a rattley clutch.
Some of the boys over here have my bike at the moment and are doing some work on it from me.

Anyway, one of the guys doing work on my bike. Just gave me a phone call.
To say that clutch was very rattley! When disengaged. Now, I thought this was the way it was supposed to be, as it has done that from day one.

Can anyone help me out here.... Is this right or wrong.??

Dave.

Maybe this has been posted up somewhere before.
But I've done a search and cannot seem to find it..........

Clutch definitely rattles when the engine is cold, should get quieter once it's warmed up. Mine has done it from day 1.

'Busa's shake, rattle and roll. It's part of their character. Twist the throttle more and/or get a louder exhaust.

they all rattle ,some more than others. some people just dont notice the rattle due to lack of blood flow to their head after riding . lol

but you can change the stack height in your clutch basket or put a cushion in, this will also help.

Thanks lads... That'll do me.

Mine has rattled since day one, and the few I'd seen around here also rattled.

So I guess it is okay.

Thanks for the replys............

I think that is the case closed.................

I think it must be the rocks in your head that are rattling

Busa has all sorts of little noises, not so bad after it warms up.

What kind of work you having done .. Might worry if it is mechanical and they dont know enough about clutch rattle..Would be a sick feeling if someone doing motor work on bike and they call me to ask if something is normal ..just a thought..

Some of the lads.  That I knock around with know a   couple of  engineers.
Are doing some modifications to the clutch on the bike.
So that its easier from me to use with a bad hand.
Most of the lads over here.
Ride the likes of R1,s........ fireblade,GSXR1000, and so on.  Not many BUSA RIDERS at all.
So, they wouldn't be familiar with the characteristics of the BUSA  motor.
I.E................ rattley clutch
smile.gif

They are not actually doing work on the  motor  just the clutch assembly itself.

Cool thats great hope it comes out ok.. Take them to a Ducati dealership and let them listen to a dry clutch you talk about rattling..

okayed people, I posted this thread a while ago..

being to look at my busa this mornin...

just need to clarify something on this rattley clutch business...

So my question is this... here is what it's doing......when the clutch is engaged.  It's really quite no rattle....

when the clutch is disengaged quite a heavy rattle, coming from the clutch basket..
now as I said  this has done this from day one... but the lads doing the work on the bike, insist I may have a clutch bearing:problem??

it seems to operate fine, no issues with slippage or anything else..just rattles.  When disengaged..no matter if the bike is cold or warm.

someone said they may have upgraded the clutch on the newer models.  Mine is 04...anybody have any input on this.

another suggestion was maybe the oil was to tin?? I'm running the bike on pro4.  fully synthetic..

so I'm wondering does anyone have a similar problem......thats if this is a problem...

any input at all guys would be great.........

It's funny you bring this back up. I just noticed yesterday that my bike is doing the same thing. Fired it up for a quick jaunt around the block with no helmet, and I heard exactly what you described. I always wear a helmet, so it could have been there all along and I just couldn't hear it. Bike runs fine, no slipping. I've never launched the bike, but I do ride the crap out of it at some extreme speeds. I'm interested to hear some more opinions.

Now that I read back through, I wouldn't call what my bike does a rattle, but more of a deep whirring sound.

sounds like the normal rattle Dazz. If yer really worried, pull off the cover and have a look. Make sure the the hub nut is tight, check the basket for free play in the bearing, etc etc.

I'm 100% sure they wont find anything. If they un do the bolts a pinch at a time while the bike is warm, not hot, they should be able to save the gasket and re use it.

While in there, they could check the actuation rod for rust, clean it up,before it eats the seal, they could shuffle the deck, give the driven plates a quik scuff etc.

Rubb.

Thanks cuzz... I think you're right. Maybe the best thing to do is to whip the cover off and take a look at it...
