Clutch Springs??

Hi, I've searched on here and looked at loads of pictures of clutch springs and can't find an answer....

Does anyone know if it matters which way round clutch springs are installed? I have some heavy duty ones from Big CC Racing and they have different ends, one end has more compressed coils than the other. No other place seems to sell ones like these... They are all the same at both ends.

It's just made me wonder whether they should be installed a certain way around or three one way and three the other or if it will make no difference whatsoever!!!!

Has anyone seen any like this please?

Cheers, Simon

Actually, ignore this post.... Fitted the heavy duty springs and could hardly pull the clutch lever in!!!! Have rebuilt it with the original springs now.

Only had the heavy duty springs as they were part of the kit that included the clutch mod to stop the ramp action. Have used the new Allen bolts and washers though as there is quite a lot on here about standard bolts shearing.

Just need to get my accossato masters fitted now then i'm set for the summer (until I spot something else I can afford to bolt on!)

I don't see where it would matter, if you decide to go back with them make sure you get a heavy duty clutch slave cover / plate. The factory one will fail with use.

Ah... Thanks guys. The three of each springs make sense, didn't know that! I may change three then as i haven't put the engine cover back on yet.

Big CC racing are very slow and i haven't received my gasket spray yet.
I suppose a stiffer one (oo-er) will be better with a radial clutch lever too.

I already have a clutch slave support, thanks.... That was a real pain to fit... Ended up changing the rear coolant hose from the block as the standard one was too short once the pipe was bended out a bit as per the fitting instructions.

I have not seen it all but I have not seen springs used in the busa that were not ground flat on the ends. (I think I have 6 different versions in my parts box) It appears to me that this style could cause some issues and make the spring rub. It also looks like that spring could coil bind in this application.

Stiffer springs are mandatory if you are using a 1 piece, or welded hub. (or the locking ring) Eliminating the camming action of the two piece unit stops the "lock up" effect the stock parts have.

Look at all of the springs in these links. None of them look like what you have.

Thanks for that.... Excellent info.
It's Big CC I got them from but they were just loose in the packet with the locking ring. Maybe I'll get some others.

Yes, I bought some EBC heavy duty springs. They are the same length as the standard ones but 10 percent stiffer. Completely different to the ones that Big CC Racing supplied. I think I'll shop elsewhere in future.
All fitted and she rides perfectly now, I'm very happy.
Just the K-Tech fork springs and some new tyres to fit now.
