Colorado Cycle Fest

I SHOULD be able to make this. I will certainly try. Would be nice to meet up with some eastern riders (compared to West Coast).

Well not so much eastern, me and Big Tall are in Denver which we still consider the west but more east than those left coast riders

Hey Thunderpants,
Since you are in Denver why don't you come up with a place for us to meet and go for a ride. I am trailering the bike up on Thursday and will be ready by Friday afternoon.
We plan on camping somewhere in the vicinity of the cyclefest. But wherever you think would be a good place to meet up is cool.
I'm looking forward to meeting some Hayabusa.org members.
I will be on a 2003 silver and grey.

Ok fellas, if you are getting to town on Friday and are staying in Denver we could meet up somewhere and all cruise downtown. There are a lot of bikes down there on weekends. So we can head down there Friday and then head up the back way to Copper Mountain on Saturday Morning. I am thinking there is a back way up through Highway 285, I will have to double check the maps for the route. I am thinking it would be a 2-3 hour ride up there with some nice two lane highways and lots of curves. Doc and whoever is coming from the west we should decide on a time to meet up on Saturday at the rally and perhaps head out for a ride in the afternoon. Let me know what you guys think about this plan. I may get a hotel room somewhere up there on Saturday because it would be fun to be there for both days. It just depends on how much it costs.

Hey there just chiming in i might be comeing back through on that weekend i plan on heading out from the sturgis rally on the 10th or 11th for out to WA and then comeing back down through oregon and that but i should be arriving in denver that friday or sat depending on how all goes i'll know more later espcially since i don;t have the grain crop harvested yet that will play a key roll but i hope to make it if all else mabey ill be heading out that way around that time i'll try and keep in touch or email one of you later down the road on this

Thunder, you are the man, Myself and two guys on identical Red/white/and Black R6's are staying in Copper Mountain area for the weekend. We will show up friday and will be ready to do some long rides on Sat and Sunday. We also are staying there to be involved with all the evening activities, I will be in a 2003 2500HD pulling a small 12 long enclosed trailer with a bunch of sponsor logos on it. I used to race Quads and my buddy put all this on the trailer. It will have a big 91 on the back door so if you want look for me. I also ride a 40th edition Busa with Akra bolt ons. Keep up the messages so we can all get together for a long ride up to Independence pass. I was just thru that area last week on a family vacation with my wife and I have got to get back ther on the bike. See ya.

One other thing any motel/lodgeing information? would be a plus wana get a place reserved now how far away from denver is it? best place to stay there or in denver or is there some places inbetween? thanks

Lobo,  Are you planning on staying in Denver on Friday night or up in the mountains somewhere?

Midnight, hope you can join us.  If you are planning on going to both days of the rally I would suggest staying somewhere in the mountains on Saturday night.  Copper is about an hour and half from Denver, so you wont want to make that round trip both days.  You may want to look for Hotels in Dillon, Silverthorne or Frisco.  Those three towns are within a few miles of each other and have lots of lodging.  It is a 15-20 minute ride to Copper from there.  I am sure the Copper hotels are full by now and are charging higher rates.  I did a search for hotels around there and found rates from $60 to $200 depending on if you want a condo or hotel room.  I looked on Travelocity and put in Frisco for the city.

Good luck on searching, let me know if you guys need anything else.  You can email me at karl@fsap.com if you need anything.

First, let me say HI as I am new to the board.  I just bought a 99 Busa a couple of weeks ago after having been off cycles for about 8 years.  How things have changed.

I am thinking about heading up to the Fest and just checked on rooms.  They still have quite a few in the East Village for $89 a night.  The wife and I are thinking about going up Friday, is anyone else goin up then?  It sounds like most are waiting for Saturday.

On another note, are there any regular group rides in the Denver area?

Thanks Big Tall I will let you know if I need anything.

OutJustOut, welcome to the board! I am going to wait until saturday to head up I think unless there is demand for everyone to go Friday. I don't know of any regular group rides for certain, I think some people may meet at Fay Myers on Sunday morning but I don't know what time they meet.

Thunder, I already have reservations at the hotel where everything is happening. If the Friday night riding in Denver is worth it we might come down and cruise with you, just let me know if it is worth it. We will be arriving Friday afternoon and will be there all weekend. I will try and get the hotel name and let you know where it is. We are planning on definitely watching the SuperMoto race and seeing all the concerts that they are having. Saturday we are planning on making the Inderpnedence pass ride into Aspen and then back so if anyone is up for it let me know and we will try and coordinate a time and place to meet. Just let me know. As if gets closer I can give you my Cell number and we can talk about it on the phone.

Firstly, all you Colorado riders need to bite my butt!

Man, it sucks being stuck in Florida in the summers. I miss home so bad and this cyclefest is killing me. I'll be thinking about you guys up there though. I really miss Colorado in the Summer time.

If you all don't know Colorado has to be one the biggest summer riding secrets in the country. If it's 95 in Denver, you can ride for 20 minutes up into the hills and it's 80 degrees. Ride another 30-40 minutes and it will be in the 70's. Twisties all the way and if you know where to go traffic is almost non-existant and you can see some beautiful sites.

West coast Riders thinking of attending the rally need to make sure they ride through Colorado National Monument near Grand Junction on their way, some real pretty stuff.

Another recomendation would be to take Loveland pass to Winterpark and then past Grand lake to Rocky mountain National park and Trail ridge road. Great ride and get's you up around 11K feet.

Last place I can think of is a trip up to through Aspen and across Independance Pass it's a nice twistie Pass and is just plain beautiful. Watch for Deer...

One Last thing. BRING SOME COLD WEATHER GEAR!!! At night up there at those altitudes, it can get COLD. I mean 35-40 Deg.

Allright you Lucky Colorado Bastards...Have a hell of a good time and ride safe. I'll be there in spirit...

I doubt it will be worth you guys heading back down from the mountains on Friday Night. I am sure there will be plenty to do up there. We will just plan on meeting up with you guys on Saturday. I am still up for a friday night ride if anyone is staying in Denver that night. Just let know.
