Cool old bikes

Their 'gas tank' that really isn't the gas tank has some cool features too, like the stored kick starter and storage, with the flip up top and fold down sides.

I rented one when they first are out and was impressed with how the ‘tank’ opened up. Was my first experience with such a low with the fuel tank down low. Cornered well even with the shaft drive. Very solid but I heard the first year bikes had weak clutches. The first year when they got rid of spoke wheels would be my choice if I got one. Same Comstar wheels like the early CBXs had.

My dad had an 1100. Came to me at some point. I did my Iron Butt on it. They do gobble up the miles.

I'de like to have one with late model CBR forks/front end, and some good rear shocks.
I really like some of the older bikes done with modern suspension and brakes.
Those boxers, the CBX, and a Suzuki Water Buffalo all have unique engines that make great resto-mods.

These are getting hard to find as well.......

Not long ago I sold two red and black '85s, one was a factory race bike and one was a street bike with the same mods....

For less than this bike is going for....

....or a Yamahopper RZ500.......if I had an extra $20 lying around, this could be a contender...

We both know that multiple bikes become work quickly, but having 2 isn't so bad, as long as they are different.
I have my "03 Gsxr1k that I need to finish(I could put on a few more parts that I have and ride it again, but I want to do full suspension first).
My friend's '18 Gsxr1k that I keep is awesome...but I talk him off a ledge every couple weeks...or else my basement would have Every generation Gsxr1k in it.
He also wants yet another ZX7 or ZX9, as we both like them and the mid 90's CBR 600's and 900's, Gsxr SRAD's, the list goes on...but they're still all inline 4 cylinders, and bikes that at least one of us had once upon a time.
I told him he needs a TL1000R, v-twin, something fun to ride that's different than most sportbikes.
He agrees...but says he's going to buy a Honda Grom soon, lmao...and I couldn't tell him no either...bring it over...I'll ride that too!
If I had money to burn and didn't have to work full time, I'de quickly end up with too many bikes.
I'de also really like to put modern suspension and brakes on a '70's or '80's classic, like we were talking about in another thread, as I like working on them too(without a time frame to finish).
My stepson can get his motorcycle learners permit this coming June, so I have been looking for the right bike(whatever that may be, likely a dual-sport), that is in need of some work, so I can show him how to fix it all.
I also know a guy who want's me to get his mid '70's CB750 running again.
It's been sitting inside for years, all the gas was drained(gas tank looks new inside), and was running well.
So a carburetor clean or rebuild and sync, it needs an airbox, and will need chain and sprockets, brakes/calipers rebuit, fork seals, a battery, and a valve check or adjustment.
It looks really good, but sounds somewhere between a fun project...or a headache that I'll regret touching, lol.

He sent me these this morning.
Both have 22k miles on them, but overpriced, as the seller wants $15k for the pair...but the purple/yellow one is calling my name...
lmao

They both look like they are in really good shape.....

I had a guy that worked for me that had the white, black and red one.....it was a really good bike...he sold it and bought a Duck 916 and regretted that about a month into ownership....

The Duck was a beautiful bike but liked the dealership too much....

It's strange what time does to a person.

Buying a 916 was a very big risk at the time. And yes, the Italians were and still are the best at designing
