GSXtacy (Chirs),
Thanks for posting a nice write up about my new BMW K1200S.
Thanks to everyone who posted for your favorable remarks.
You have a great organiztion here. Hopefully I can stay on board even thoug I bought the Beemer.
I am sure I will get to meet some of you in the near future.
My Cousin Chris (GSXtacy) and Uncle Hal (GSXcite) and I are bound to Roll in to an event or two
I am a little dissappointed that getting the BUSA did not work out for me. But I am also VERY happy with my new Beemer.
I took my bad experience with the dealer as a sign. I guess that the BMW is what I was meant to have.
Chris and I are havin fun comparing the differences between the bikes. I have only been able to ride my new bike once. A nice 45 degree rainy 80 mile ride back home from the dealership in Iowa City. The weather Here has been solid rain for three days. (the new bike curse!!!) The K12S had a very good highway manners even in the rain - Very Solid handling and smooth powerband. The heated Gips were a godsend. The windshield provided protection to shoulder level and did not move my helmet around.
Anyway, I will keep adding new posts as we get past the break-in period and see what this bike can really do. I'll also try to respond to any questions you post about the bike.
newmill asked about the MSRP.
Mine Has:
Base K120S $15,800
Heated Grips $200 (Great om that cold ride Home)
On Bourd Computer $ 215 (Avg. MPG, Avg Speed, Dist to Empty, Outside Temp, Clock, 2 trip odometers, Etc)
I did not get the following option but the demo I rode had them .
Anti Theft Alarm $215 (Soon to be added)
ABS $995 (Not sure about this on a bike)
Electronic Suspension Adjustment. $ 775 (nice feature if you varied you loads alot - I won't be)
Lastly, I want to give Gina's BMW in Iowa City a quick plug.
They took me on a 15 mile escorted test ride on their demo K1200S. I was sold by the time we got back to the dealership. They definately understand how to treat a customer and they are avvid motorcyclists themselves. All motorcyclist are welcome there - Stop in you'll see what I mean.
Sorry for the long post.
I'll post some more riding reports when it stops raining.
