I have trouble believing that a fall onto a carpeted floor from that height would compromise your helmet. Not sure I follow all the concern over this subject but let us know if it ever fails in a wreck if you decide to use it again.
I'm curious to see what Shoei's recommendation will be. Just opened the box of my new X-11, gonna be extra careful with this thing, dang that was a bunch of money for a helmet.
That's very true about what kind of hit determines the outcome. If the helmet really hammered the floor then i would carefully inspect it. I've dropped a couple helmets inside and usually they don't hit that hard and roll.
Of course there's one thing we all didn't mention. Which is peace of mind. If it puts your mind at ease to have Shoei inspect it or to have it X-rayed, then do it.
My honest opinion is you don't have anything to worry about.
it's made to sacrifice itself and protect anything in it for ONE impact. hence the reason dropping it on something (which can be considered an impact) can compromise the effectiveness of said helmet.
I think it would be interesting for someone to video a helmet being dropped or hit with a bat and see just what it takes to cause damage.. R they all the same standards? $200 vs $500? If it were mine and I paid $500 and it fell 6' and damaged , I'd want my $$ back!!! I'd wear it or go buy a Scorpion 700
No, do not keep that helmet, send it to me and I will see that it gets disposed of it properly. That's what friends are for. Now, aren't you lucky to have friends like me to look out after your welfare. Seriously, your helmet will be just fine.
How many "impacts" did that (or any) helmet go through when it shipped out from the manufacturer? Everyone knows how careful package-handlers are. Especially if it says fragile on the box! (No offense to the package handlers here on the org.)(And get your mind out of the gutter. I said package handlers because I didn't want to drop names of buisnesses.)
