I don't know exactly what part of the frame this is but normally a broken part of the main frame is an insurance total. Are we looking at a ram air duct through the frame in the upper right?
I am thinking it is the left side , bike facing forward , because of that pair valve tube ? But bloody hell , maybe another clue to help out be nice ...

You are 100% correct that's where the crack sits. Unfortuna
It's hard for me to tell from the picture; do you have any other pictures of it?
Did you buy the bike new or know it's history?
Do you know if it has been wrecked?
Landed any hard wheelies?
Hi I bought it in this state.

Who knows how long it's been like that. I don't think that thing supports any weight, it looks like it's only purpose is to reinforce the frame laterally. It sure seems like that would already be a very strong part of the frame but also the part that would be most likely to take the brunt of a side blow. If you're sure nothing is bent, I'd consider re-welding it. Obviously a brand new frame would be best but that will cost bookU bucks. If you know everything else is good, you might be better off with this one rewelded instead of one off Ebay that might be bent. If there are no signs of other damage, I would guess it was just a faulty weld. What else could it be if there's not so much as a paint scratch?

You might as well check with a shop to see if there is such thing as a lifetime warranty on certain parts. There's no reason the frame should ever wear out. I'd be very VERY careful about which shop I'd let completely disassemble and reassemble my bike though. Personally, I'd prefer to re-weld than let most dealerships touch my bike.

I had a zx-10 that the entire triple tree part was cracked out, I removed the tank and took it to a guy who was amazing at tig welding took him 30 minutes to weld it up and I wheelied the fork seal right out of her without ever having a issue again. As long as everything is straight and true get it welded professionally and you'll be golden.
