Cracked "starter clutch cover" actually timing chain crank cover WTF

@Berlin Germany I have these very expensive torque wrenches.
Small bolts get the small ratchet with just a tiny amount of torque supplied by turning my wrist.
Medium bolts get the next size up with more torque measured by forearm force.
And for the big stuff...yup,the big ratchet...and put yer shoulder into it.

I'm just kidding Frank...for the big bolts...

I use a wrench...

Vast majority of us have Woodcraft Stator covers, at least the old-timers do.

I've used the same cover on all three of my Hayabusa's and ten plus years & 100k+ miles. No leak. No cracks. Toss that stock cover.

but for wich hellish prize (and what hellish big amount of shiping to germany?)

Well the NRC and the Nova racing ones are nice, how are you supposed to time the engine without the inspection plug.
As for the OP here someone before you must have over tightened the plug. Mine on my 04 was in and out at least once a year till i sold it to Timmyduck about 2 years ago.

It was discovered that it was a flaw in the original design...folks kept breaking them so...
it was omitted in the upgrade.
