Creative tie-bar system for the bus

for that price why not use soft ties...

I have a cayon dancer and it worked great to haul my busa from iowa to ohio

Well I set here trying to think how to explain how I tie down the busa and the bandit in the back of my 5th wheel. When I first started hauling my V Max around I made the mistake of ratchet straping it down off the triple tree.  The end result was blown out fork seals. Now I find the Busa is real easy to tie down.  Think about it for a sec your rear swing arm is a real stout piece...  Ok I tie the Busa down by the swing arm.. looking down at the busa I tie it down in an X pattern with ratchet ties to anchor points on the floor. No pressure at all on the front fork seals.  I do use two soft ties off the bar ends to keep the bike in place only. The bike stays put....  I will take pictures of this later this year when I start my big road trips.  By the way Im known to be a aggressive driver (in the way of not going slow from point A to B)  Driving my F450 Super Duty Diesel Dually and towing the 30 foot 5th wheel with two bikes in it.  Im not one to hold up a line of traffic when towing.  The point in this you may ask...  Bumps in the road, turns, stops and starts and the bikes stay put they never move or have damage to any of the plastic...  The busa is not an easy bike to transport by doing a tie off from the bars.

Max, thats the same way I do mine. I use the tie bar but not a lot of pressure on the forks. The 4 points from the arm hold it real nice, even towing up thru the mountains/bumpy roads. I also tie the front end by running the strap thru the front axle and ratcheting it down.

I have used both the canyon dancer and the Yoyodyne sliders. I have the same issue with straps touching the fairings and have to use cotton towels to prevent damage. I used the Yoyodyne sliders my last trip from KS to TX and didn't need the canyon dancer, but it was there. The sliders fit just like regular sliders do. I just took of my LP CF sliders and put the Yoyodyne sliders on. There are 2 separate pieces to make it work though. The first is the slider (Wayneswa's second pic) and the second is the tie-down kit (Wayneswa's first pic). Around $100 shipped for everything. They work great and I will use them and an incorporated wheel chock the next time I transport the bikes. Sorry for the long reply.

I guess i'm wrenching down to much on the front. I'm gonna make a jig for my front tire so it stays put, cause that's usually why i crank it down to prevent the front tire from moving.

I've also found that how far your bike's cranked down depends on how pissed off you are. In other words, down sinch the bike down while fighting with your girl.

The bar looks pretty nifty, if you cant trust a marine with your bike, wtf?

I just got my bar delivered UPS today and I think I'm going to be pretty happy with it. Nice product, good value IMO.
